This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.

Please, do not cancel it… if the rting dropped was maybe becase so many re-runs in between new episodes. The series are very good and different from the violence and crime shows.

This is a great show. I watch it because of the relationship between the doc and his dead wife; insightful and the individual stories are very challenging; Please reconsider.
Some of us just got into it late. But I love this show and have found all the episodes online and watched them all! Give it another chance, maybe one another night. I know those ratings can be pulled up!

LOVE this show!!! Was so bummed to hear it is probably not coming back for a 2nd season! What a shame! Find a new day & time slot for it! Friday is a rough day of the week…people are out doing TGIF stuff!
Serriously, I loved this show. It did touch on some strange lfe issues but the story and medical material was amazing. I really hope it stays on… like most other comments, I looked very forward to it all week. Patrick Wilson is pretty great in it too:-)
Please don’t cancel this show. I really enjoyed it. I have been telling my friends about it and now you want to cancel it. If you keep it on have his xwife still on it as well. Great cast.

I love this show so much!! I look forward to it all week. I can’t believe they would even consider canceling it. Maybe Friday wasn’t the best night for it??? I have no idea why there are not that many viewers. I think it’s one of the best programs on television today.

I am so sorry to see this drama cancelled. I found it interesting, entertaining, humorous and the show I was happy to relax with on Friday after a long week.

The Gifted Man is one of the best shows on TV. CBS has to be crazy to even consider canceling it! What CBS should do is cancel its Programming Director’s contract — the person is an idiot!
