This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.

This is decent TV….that’s probably why it may not come back. Only the smut sells. I hope NBC picks it up
Interesting premise; too bad the network couldn’t follow through. I had very high hopes and enjoyed the show. I’m quite certain my “do not cancel the show” will fall on deaf ears because I’m one of a very small group actually voicing an opinion. I’ll say it anyway, “DON”T FRIGGIN CANCEL THE SHOW!!”
This is an amazing show. Finally an intelligent script, excellent acting, and stories which appeal to the intelligence. A refreshing change from a lot of the garbage that’s out there these days, to say nothing of the violence, gore, shooting, and murders which seem to proliferate TV these days. Reposition the show into a time slot earlier in the week (a Monday or Tuesday) at either 8 or 9 pm and push promotion. This show is ahead of it’s time. Do not cancel it. If CBS doesn’t want it then give the rights to another network.
I agree with other posters — my husband and I really enjoy this show. I’m so sick of reality shows I could spit… Please, CBS, don’t cancel it!
Please, do not cancel “Gifted Man”. My 9 year old and 13 year old love watching it with me, and look forward to every episode. A smart family show, the children will be very dissapointed.

My entire family loved this show. What the heck do people watch now anyway. Cussing and naked people or something like A Gifted Man with drama, love story, intelligence, something for everyone. Not all those crime mysterys, don’t we have enough of them. Men are watching them. Please bring the show back.
Why is it that all the good tv programs are cancelled and are replaced by stupid reality programs, I am so tired of getting interested in a Tv drama only to have it cancelled
We love the show. We actually are missing it. There is so much junk tv on… A Gifted Man is refreshing. It is great to see professionals helping those less fortunate plus watching them struggle with their own internal battles and difficulties.
The Gifted Man is one of my favorite shows on tv. Big mistake in cancelling this show.
