This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see A Gifted Man leave the schedule? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a bigger audience?

My husband and I love this show. It is the only thing on Friday night we watch on tv. It is too soon to cancel. It got moved in time slots and skipped for weeks during the holiday. No one I work with even knew what show I was talking about when I was telling them how much I liked the show. How do you call that a fair shot?? Maybe we need another 3 or 4 “CSI somethings”. Can’t they just leave one feel good show on…please!
This is my favorite show and would love to see it receive a 2nd season.
We love the show please don’t cancel!
I loved this show, I think if they had put it on another night it would have had more people wathing.
I love the shows and really hope that it won’t be cancelled 🙁
a gifted man is by far my favorite show! it would be a shame to see it go down the drain. CBS please don’t give up on it.
I watch this show every week and I love every one. I really hope they keep it on or another channel will pick it up. I agree with who ever said what they did about all the CSI”s and criminal minds and murder shows. Take of the show unforgetable and replace it with this….that show is a joke, who run and takes down perps in high heals……
About the time I found A GIFTED MAN, CBS didn’t run it week after week…after week…seemed like forever, during Nov-Dec-Jan. Hard for a new show to catch on when its network removed it for six weeks or so for “holidays!” Actually, several main actors are very appealing…maybe ‘characters’ USA should pick it up!
Please DON’T cancel this show. I love the stories and the characters. Having Erik la salle on from ER is great. There is nothing else on Friday night that is worth watching, but this was a treat to watch. ABC and NBC just have junk on Friday night. If you want loyal watchers keep it on at 8 instead of changing the times.

A GIFTED MAN is my favorite show. I didn’t find it right away. Now can’t wait till Fri night. I’m also tired of most TV; someone has to be bright enough to figure out a way to keep this superb show on. I love the way Patrick plays his role.
My mother and I will be very disappointed if the show is dropped. I look forward to Friday nights! We have learned more on how free clinics are runned by caring Doctor’s . I have no idea why we do not have more viewers. It is a clean, learning experience. I am sure if it was rated with more sex and violence the show would have more viewers. Go figure!
I really like this show, hope we see another season.
A Gifted Man is one of the 3 shows I watch regularly on television. Only 3! That’s how bad T.V. is these days. I like it for these reasons. It’s non-violent, has interesting cases and all the characters care about important things and each other. Sadly, that’s why it’s not popular–no serial killers, graphic brutal violence, no hoarding, and the characters aren’t ******** each other figuratively and/or literally.
Lucky for me, I still like a good book.
We loved sitting down and watching this show. Love the variety of medicine this show portrays. Rita is sassy, and the Doc is sexy. Tired of CSI and Greys Anatomy, keep this show on next season. This show didn’t have enough exposure as far as I’m concerned.
I sincerely hope A Gifted Man does not get cancelled… its Wife’s and I favorite show!
