This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see A Gifted Man leave the schedule? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a bigger audience?

My family and I discovered “A Gifted Man” weeks after the premier. But we’ve not missed an episode since. It’s a quality program that deserves a chance to build a solid audience. Place my name along with my wife’s and daughter’s in the column for renewing “A Gifted Man”.
NO,you should NOT cancel A Gifted Man!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this show. It has a great storyline and great characters. It shows compassion to people in need from someone who is able to help them, even though he doesn’t have to. ALOT of real people out there could learn from this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Count me among those who love this show and don’t want to see it cancelled.
My entire family enjoys this show and it would be a shame to let it go. I worry about what’s on TV for my daughter and with this show I feel as if I don’t have to worry as much.
please do not cancel this show. the actors and storyline are excellent. why isn’t there good programming for the over 50 crowd? Because
it was in a lousy time slot and got no publicity. On the plus side no vampires, reality crap or vacuous bimbos talking about sex. as usual any intelligent show is swept aside so we can watch idiots trying to survive in the jungle , or pick a new bride or whatever garbage they keep trying to feed us.
thank god for reruns so we can reminisce about the good old days when tv was worth watching.
I’m a teen and this is the only show that doesn’t say it’s okay to do drugs or drink or anything. I’m sorry I’m not like other teenagers out there who like that sort of thing, but this show is one of the last clean, good ones. I love this show and I really hope it’s not cancelled.
When I saw the commercial advertising The Gifted Man, I was very interested and have watched the show from it’s very first episode. I have a DVR and watch each episode twice. I love this show. It is different from the other medical shows and I do get tired of the cop and law shows. I enjoy the actors they have selected for the show. I liked watching it at 8p.m. I really hope CBS doesn’t cancel it. I would like to buy it on DVD, as this is a show I can watch over and over.
I hope they do not cancel a Gifted Man. It is easily the best show (new) of the season.
The reason that cable is whipping broadcast TV is that ratings in the first season over
rules quality. Thus like everyone else I will probably be watching more cable and less
NBC CBS ABC & FOX.
I love the show try a different time slot before u cancel it
NO! Don’t cancel this show. It’s my favorite! More people need to try it. It is a great show with great actors. I love, love, love Michael (Patrick) and the rest of the cast. PLEASE do not cancel. I don’t watch a lot of TV, mostly just CSI (Vegas, Miami). I missed Medium. This show kind of mixes Medium and House, but I like it a lot better than House. Okay…So, there’s my few cents. Dawna
I only follow two shows on TV: Smash and A Gifted Man. I would love it if CBS gave the show one more season and better time slot/more exposure. I think it’s just hitting it’s stride. Michael Holt is just getting to be likeable for pete’s sake.
I must really be an anomaly. This is presently the only drama I watch on TV. Before the Medium was cancelled that was my favorite drama. Apparently neither appealed to the general public. I guess I will stick with reading. The taste of the entertainment world has passed me by.
Please don’t cancel this show , maybe it needs to be moved to monday instead of fridays
Leave this on, its a good show. It has potential for great story lines that are relevant.
This is a good show. CBS seems to be playing it’s audience like a yo-yo with this and many other shows. CSI, Criminal Minds, etc etc. Just as you identify with a show and its characters, they ditch it or change the characters that you have come to identify with. Frustrating to the viewer.
