NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
We love Alligence!!!! Don’t cancel it!! Just find a new time slot!!!!!!
There isn’t much to watch but I counted on Black List, Allegiance,Madam Sec., and Marvel.
Either I am out of touch (HEY!!!) or the network is. I think with all the “we are the world” mush, the networks are not setting the bar, they are just catering to the LCD (or is that cratering?)
It’s amazing how many of my favorite shows get cancelled!!…All that is left is about people with serious behavioral issues, or horror, or vampires….really???….Dollhouse disappeared, also Killer Women (funny, good looking ladies with a gun 🙂 ), Intelligence, The Tomorrow People, …..Now I’ll never know how some of those end, or progress, or develop….Got plenty of vampires left though…. I feel that I have to officially protest 🙂 In case anybody is watching, or reading?!…
Great show don’t cancele!
We thought it was a great new program and great slot following The Blacklist. Hard to believe it was cancelled and replaced by the slap. That’s really a slap in the face.
why do you cancel all the good shows. its not fair
Looks like they are going to show episodes on NBC.com at 7/6c.
When, today, where did you hear this?
This was getting better by the episode, I would miss it if not for my DVR, so looked forward to watching when I got home or the next day because of my schedule. I’m really sorry to hear NBC pulling the plug! I always wondered if Nielsen Ratings are able to detect households that are recording shows or does it only pick-up households the are actually tuned in during the shows time slot, I’m sure there’s a lot of us that are recording shows these days. anyway I really liked this show, bring it back change it to a different… Read more »
Very upset with the cancellation of Allegiance . Just didn’t give it a chance, move to another timeslot before axing a very good show. Pllllease drop The Slap, what a dorky show. This is one reason viewers hate to get invested with a new show, so many go by the wayside too early.
Watched the first episode of the Slap…Ridiculous…can’t believe Uma Thurman ..whom I love as an actress..is part of this ridiculous mish mash… you leave this Idiotic show on and cancel Allegience??
i was really enjoying this show. i cannot believe it was cancelled. i am watching the unaired shows on demand and will be sad when they are finished.
We loved the show and would like to see the remaining episodes. The characters were well chosen and extremely believable. We are stunned NBC pulled it. Good story lines and plots without a lot of gratuitous violence.
I loved the show and am very disappointed that NBC is planning to cancel it. I totally agree with the previous comment by nenpiedee. It was at the top of my list also!!
It would be fine if they could put the rest of the episodes on NBC.com
That’s a great idea Ken! I’d like to was the end of the pilot.
I agree
I loved the show – can’t believe NBC cancelled it! I am very surprised the ratings were poor given the success of the more intense x-rated The Americans, which I also watch.
They should have tried another spot in the line-up before axing it.
Who doesn’t love a counterespionage story? My friend said she sat on the edge of her seat in episode 4 . Rarely do you find intelligent plots on T.V. This show was on the top of my list.
