NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
Loved it. The slap is dissapointing
This show was really good. Maybe if they (NBC) has done more advertising of the show it would have had more viewers. I guess this show was just over the heads of too many people these days. BRING IT BACK AND ADVERTISE!!! Or if another station was smart they would pick it up.
Allegiance was one of our favorite shows. Too bad it was pulled so fast. The plot was interesting and actors great. Very disappointing.
I can believe this I swear every show I start watching they cancel it I watch 5 episodes of allegiance and they just stop I would like to know what happens they left us hanging NBC should at least play them at night so the people that did spend 5weeks watching it could finish it
Really liked Allegiance, recorded so as not to miss it. Will not watch The Slap
My husband and I are very disappointed to know that Allegiance has been cancelled and replaced by a distasteful show, The Slap. The plot was just getting really intense and all of a sudden it was gone. Hate that!
I can’t believe NBC pulled this show. It actually had an intelligent and exciting plot line and was much more realistic than most of the other shows about the U.S. government that are currently cluttering the networks. Leave it to NBC to leave garbage on and pull a good show off.
Why would you cancel a show after 5 freaking episodes? I loved this show and thought it was just as good as The Americans. Cable tv at least stands behind their shows and allows them time to build a following. Screw you NBC, I wont bother to watch any more of your new shows since you obviously do not care the audience.
Allegiance is one of the best shows I have watched besides the Blacklist. I always lookes forward ro watching both shows on Thurs, night. I dislike the Slap with a passion.
This was just gaining some speed…and was a good contender for following the Blacklist!
What is wrong with NBC?
Really liked the show. Made a point to watch it every week it was on. “The Americans ” on FX is similar if you want to check it out.
I really enjoyed the show. Appreciated the fact the story line was actually about spies, international secrets, espionage, etc. without a lot of violence, sex, etc. Would enjoy seeing it back on.
Loved the show!So disappointed.
What is wrong with you people? You finally put on a show that rivals cable series and is interesting, then you cancel after ONLY 5 episodes?? Please bring it back! It’s so disheartening that the really good shows get cancelled and the garbage stays on.
The show was getting more and more interesting as each week went by…definitely kept me wanting to see what would happen next!! Sorry NBC has not given this show a proper chance….IDIOTS!!
