NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
This was a SMART show with the CIA analyst son being a new type of character. This is what’s wrong with network TV. They want us to invest our time in a new show and then when we like it, it gets pulled and we never get to see the remaining episodes. From now on, I won’t watch new shows on NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX until they have a full season. Then I can watch them online and the networks get no ad revenue. If the networks do not respect the viewers why should we respect them. Netflix and other… Read more »
New episodes are on NBC.com
I absolutely love this show. I just watched 3 episodes through the mobile app tonight. I agree that there is a lot of junk on tv and The Slap, Law and Order, Parenthood (now cancelled), and Allegiance has brought me back to NBC. Can they just release the show to online and onDemand? Its just not fair…. people lead busy lives. Who can cancel life to sit in front of a TV at a certain date and time just to keep an excellent show from being cancelled? NBC needs to just release the whole series so we can watch it… Read more »
I love this show! NBC has really messed up with this one. Also they should really move the blacklist back to Mondays. That’s another good show I see NBC ******** up by having it on Thursdays.
Loved it! I’m sick of shows that I like getting cancelled. I’m going to start only watching shows that have been on for several seasons.
Loved Allegiance!
What a tragedy … this was one of my favorite shows. It seems that anytime an American “spy” series is on NBC they cancel it before it really has a chance.
I am sooooo upset that NBC pulled Allegiance. I love that show. What’s with you guys.
Why don’t you ask the people first before you cancel something. I am so upset with you.
NBC made a BIG Mistake cancelling Allegiance! Wish NBC would have tried another night before they pulled the show! The Thursday night time slot was not the best choice.
VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH NBC!!!
My wife and I were really hooked by the plot and characters. We are very disappointed it has been discontinued. Maybe another network would pick it up.
This is BS! NBC is always pulling the plug on shows I enjoy! They USED to be my “go to” network. Too many garbage shows continue to be aired when the much better ones are cancelled. NOT HAPPY!!!
My wife and I think this is the best new show on television. We eagerly await every episode. Can’t believe it’s being cancelled. Maybe a different time slot would work better.
Stranger in a strange land or episode 7 was very good(Time Warner Cable on Demand). Grimm is coming back tomorrow Friday , but at 8 pm, Does anybody knows what happened with Constantine?, I never read anything about cancellation. I will only watch 4 NBC shows now, Chicago PD and Fire, Blacklist & Grimm. Please NBC bring back Allegiance. And no more Slap and stop with so many Dateline, they are boring.
My family really enjoys this series!!! There’s worse on television that should get cancelled!
Very disappointed!!!! Keep it online through Hulu or nbc. Com!
Just started watching Allegiance and we thought it was a very good series. I would compare it to Alias which was very successful. I can’t believe it’s going to be cancelled! I hope they reconsider and try another time slot!
Apparently to many people are watching those phoney reality shows.
Allegiance was a good show suitable for family (so far). It suffered from being paired up with The Slap. It had intrigue like the short run series Rubicon which developed too slowly and was axed right when it was taking off. Now NBC has put The Blacklist in trouble sandwiched between two weak shows. The rate NBC is destroying its shows, Apple shouldn’t put much effort in getting NBC on their tv line-up. Besides, NBC teamed up with MicroSoft and looked what happened there, like no ratings whatsoever. FX, USA, A&E and HBO have much better hit shows than NBC.… Read more »
Allegiance has become one of my favorites, but I watch and enjoy The Voice and many of the Dateline episodes as well. As for sports… Well not everyone watches sports. Not everyone watches the news. Unfortunately, the shows that survive season after season reflect the mentality of the majority of this country and it’s very scary.
I loved this show and very disappointed to hear it is being cancelled.
