NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
This is by far the best show NBC has put out since Grimm. Don’t know why they have bad rating because everyone I talk to about this show loves it. Who is running NBC? Clueless.
Loved it…this is crap
Allegiance is a very good spy/drama show. The cast and story line exceptional. We watched the remaining shows from Dish and enjoyed each very much. Too bad the good shows are yanked and replaced with cr@p.
This post is in march, and says cancelled at 5 episodes. Is it just me because they have done 13 episodes! Is this article eve right?
They cancelled the show after airing five episodes. They released the remaining eight episodes online.
More than just “online” as many of the Cable and Satellite providers have the show also. NBC has Ads for its network in these released shows (serves a purpose), which means I don’t have to watch all the extra commercials. With my Comcast “On Demand” its prominently listed under NBC, letter “A”. I watch most of my programs “On Demand” any way, since there are too many interruptions (dog barking, a game on at the same time, or poor speech requiring replay) when watching at the scheduled time. Since it was a 13 episode 1st year, I’m thinking that NBC… Read more »
I loved this show and am very disappointed that they cancelled it. There aren’t many good shows on this season and this is one that I actually looked forward to each week.
Allegiance was, by far, the best show I think I’ve ever seen as a series. Fast paced and high drama.
I too love this show and was bitterly disappointed when NBC so unceremiously dumped it by cancelling it after only 5 episodes. I felt a “LITTLE” better when I learned they were going to play out the series ON DEMAND and was following it religiously every Thursday thereafter. I got through episode 12 and couldn’t wait to see how the series would wrap last Thursday by tuning into ON DEMAND as usual but NO 13TH EPISODE…I’ve been checking every day since, several times a day to no avail…NBC has really let me down this time…I even called my cable provider but… Read more »
Kenn, you can watch the last episode and others on HULU, and NBC.com, or AllegianceNBC.com. It was a great episode you must watch it
Do those in charge really know what they are doing? I doubt it! Decent shows are cancelled
and reality garbage continue to air. what is wrong with you?
I enjoyed Allegiance… Too bad.
Very disappointed the show has been cancelled. It was truly a great series and if NBC cares about their viewers, they will resurrect the show…really left us hanging! The acting was superb and the story line was mesmerizing. PLEASE RE-THINK!!!
I liked the show. Sorry to see how many shows I liked have been cancelled.
Very sorry to hear Allegiance has been cancelled. It is one of the few shows I love to watch and after each episode ends I am ready for more. Please change the cancellation because this is one show that is good and keeps me wanting to watch for more. Too few good shows on now shame for this one not to be picked up again.
I don’t have cable. (The expense is criminal) I have Netflix and and Hulu and I wait for shows to watch after their season ends. I was really looking forward to thre next season of Allegiance until I learned it was cancelled. If there is any way of reversing that decision, you have my vote.
NVBC should really reconsider the decision to cancel this show! If anything, slap should have been cancelled and allegiance continued! Please, please pick this back up, or ABC….. Maybe you guys should pick it up. With properly planned airing time, this show has the greatest potential!
please dont cancel!!!!!!
Just watched all the episodes – back to back – on On Demand. . . this show is s captivating why are you canceling? Put it back on! Please…
Allegiance was a very good show. It’s unique, action packed, keeps you on the edge to know what next. That’s why it should be renewed for Season 2 and not cancelled.
