NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
Love this show…cannot believe it is gone…and we don’t get any closure….
I’ll never watch NBC ever again, if they don’t bring back Allegiance, Forever and State of Affairs, same as hundreds of people I know. Somebody should let the studio know that they’ll lose viewers if they don’t do something real soon
Has State of Affairs been officially cancelled? I had problems following show, with all the names and poor speech. I would usually end up watching it “On Demand” later in the week. There are enough similar shows.
However, “Forever” (an ABC show) was one of my favorites. Its much better Elementary (appeals to same audience and then some), which went a few years.
State of Affairs was the first to be cancelled, followed by Allegiance & then, Forever.
Allegiance should not have been cancelled. NBC made a huge mistake. All other programs offered up as a replacement for Allegiance, is nothing more than a joke. For example: “The Slap”. Right. Stupid show.
Great, smart show…and as usual, they took it off the air…too bad!!!
My thoughts exactly.. my father always said “the masses are arses” and when it comes to smart television it is more often than not, the truth.
I watched all the episodes of Allegiance on Hulu Plus and I love the show. It has a great, well-developed cast of characters with nail biting story lines. I also really enjoyed Bad Judge and I just found out they’ve cancelled that as well. I tell you what NBC: Stop making a plethora of shows and just tossing them out there for viewers to start caring about only to pull the plug. You are letting your viewers down. The only thing you did right was to renew The Night Shift and The Mysteries of Laura.
Please at least complete a second season with a decent conclusion of the series. At least you owe it to the 3 million viewers.
Please conclude the series.
Thanks
Agreed..
I was very disappointed to see yet another exciting and riveting show, with great character development and great acting be cancelled after only five shows. At least some of us were able to see the last eight episodes On Demand. And, of course, with a quality show such a this, these episodes set everything up so nicely for a great Season 2. Two other and quite similar shows, Forever and State of Affairs suffered a similar fate. To lose three favorites is tough, but when they are all “top shelf”—well you get my point. I don’t know hese things work,… Read more »
Completely agree..
Please continue the series. Allegiance is a great show and a great actors. Common, this is one of a kind show. Put it back!
If we push hard enough maybe we can get Netflix to pick up this show.. smart television is not easy to find or keep.. like Crossing Borders, maybe we can pique the interest of another studio or network to pick it up right where it left off.
Speak up 3.9 million people who enjoy great entertainment when they see it.
This number game is especially noteworthy when one considers that MAD MEN audience never exceeded 3.5 mil.
This is a great show with excellent acting and the characters themselves are developing throughout the series. Canceling this show makes absolutely no sense whatsoever so it’s my humble opinion that there needs to be another season. The show can now take on an international dimension with the new SVR resident and Alex becoming a full fledged CIA agent of sorts tracking down this international terriorist. I could write the entire season two smokers do the right thing and start the process of developing season 2. Thank you …Dr. Harry J. Maue, Certified Forensic Examiner
I totally agree…they didn’t give it enough of a chance to develope a following esp since they have rather fresh actors who are great but it’s not like well known actorswho already have a fan base who will tune in just to see them. Also Dr what is it your job entails because I’m working on a biochemistry degree and was thinking about going in the field of forensics…any info should be appreciated .
Thanks

Please do not cancel this series. Give it a chance.
It was a GREAT seris, please bring it back. At the least you need to bring it to a conclusion! We loved this show!
There was a conclusion – on Episode 13. They also set up Season II, with Sam giving Alex an assignment.
I’ve continued watching this show on NBC.com. Will there be a second season?
One early on review stated “intelligent for intelligent minds” and I agree. The show is captivating with its subplots, twists and turns. The acting by all is superb. Why do great shows such as this always seem to get the axe. Give it more of a chance than five episodes before you decide to cancel. Very disappointed.
Allegiance was a great show! Too bad it was cancelled.
I LOVED this show. NBC needs some new management or something. :/
Please bring back Allegiance. It is really an awesome show. At least release all episodes and a final to bring closure.
Its pity the show was closed. Allegiance was a blowing piece of work, that challenged every viewers mind. The actors are great, and encourages younger viewer to quest knowlege and be smart..i wish this show had another chance in air..possibly given enuf time to pick up.
