NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
i like it
Just found it OnDemand….must have been up against some very popular shows. Should have tried a new time slot and advertising it more.
Why do u have to cancel such a cool show? I have watch season 1 and I was curious like a cat guesing what will happen next. I totally need it back.
Very disappointed to hear that this show was cancelled. Kept me on the edge of my seat each week. Watched finale on TWC On Demand. A really great show in my opinion.
I loved that show and watched 9 episodes on demand I know there must be a 10th episode somewhere…..anybody?
I was on the edge of my seat watching Allegiance each week. I have never been counting the days to see another episode as this. I am extremely disappointed NBC and its back to CBS for me. Really NBC I can’t believed you cancelled and left us hanging.
I liked Allegiance so much that I found it difficult to wait for the next episode!
I am a Malawian national and I was watching it online
Loved the show, very smart. Not enough ads prior to airing. We binged watched all 13 shows in 24 he’s as we were do hooked. It needs to be brought back.
I LIKED THE SHOW. I ONLY SAW 5 SHOWS. HOW CAN I SEE THE OTHERS
I really liked the show as well! I was recording it on my DVR to watch and ended up having to watch the remaining episodes online when they pulled it. I thought it was a well written unique spin on a spy series that was very suspenseful and engaging. I wish they didn’t cancel it.
the show was excellent, finished the season on my iPad, should be continued.
Allegiance is the best new show in years. The cast and storyline were EXCELLENT! It was the only show that had me on the edge of my seat and dying for each new episode. EVERYONE I knew watched and loved it! Please please PLEASE bring it back!!!
No, we loved this show. I was getting alot of my friends to watch it too – online as they had already pulled it from tv. We thought it was brilliant and want to see it come back. Try it on a different station, day, time, or make it on demand or put it on Netflix. Just bring it back!!!!
Ike….what you described is the problem that caused studios to pull shows out because they need eyeballs on the TVs to watch the ads that are paying for the telecasts of these shows. If everybody watches online, there’ll be no shows to watch. TV viewers are those who’re paying for the service that offers the shows to attract advertisers and make profits.
this is my show
This show was great. My friends and I watched it on our phone as we couldn’t watch at the regular aired time-slot. Too bad NBC decided to pull the plug
