Phil Keoghan, get your passport ready! CBS has announced that The Amazing Race has been renewed for the 2016-17 season. It’s unknown if the network has renewed the venerable competition series for one or two cycles at this point but we do know there will at least be a 29th competition.
Hosted by Keoghan, the 28th cycle of The Amazing Race is currently airing on Friday nights. This season features 11 pairs of contestants racing around the world in pursuit of a million dollar prize. Each team features at least one Internet celebrity.
The current season’s ratings are on par with last spring’s edition, averaging a 1.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.77 million viewers. That’s also about the same as last Fall’s edition.
Today, the network announced 2016-17 season renewals of 10 other shows as well — 2 Broke Girls, Blue Bloods, Elementary, Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary, Mom, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, and Survivor.
What do you think? Are you still a fan of The Amazing Race? Would you like to see a new twist added to the competition next season?
I was mad that they moved it from Sunday nights, to Friday nights; I can’t stand Madame Secretary, so I watch Smithsonian Channel instead. I usually tape it on Friday nights, because I’m watching Bill Maher, & Washington Week, instead
The Amazing Race ìs one of the greatest reality shows ever produced and a very high Emmy winner, so, of course, due to the wisdom of some “suit” sitting in a highrise somewhere the show was moved from Sunday night to the graveyard of Friday night and replaced with Sunday shows that haven’t won anything . Maybe CBS should make Julie Chen host so it would get the huge advertizing dollars it allots to Big Brother, and let Phil Keoghan host the lesser quality, but better connected, BB. It’s unbelievable that CBS seems to have forgotten what a gem Amazing… Read more »
Yes, I would love this show. I don’t think all previous contestants should be able to come back on all at once.. They’ve had their chance, let new contestants have a chance. Maybe just 2 couples at the most just for added competition.
When will TAR Season 29 air???? My family and friends have got used to it being on in the Fall Season? We like to watch it and try to figure out who will win?
Been watching since season 1. Love to watch AR. It is uplifting and fun plus you get to see places around the world. No sex, violence, profanity!. One of the few shows I still bother to set the DVR to record.
My family of five LOVES Amazing Race! It’s such a great show to watch with your kids! We are Americans living in Germany, and getting access to the show over here is not easy, but we make a lot of effort to do it. We love it when it’s “American Race Season,” and we all settle in on the couch to watch together.
I love the amazing race. Please DO NOT CANCEL IT. That is a good way to see the world. I really look forward for the show. I know alot of people who really enjoy it.
Everyone I know loves the Amazing Race, there should be no reason why it cannot continue. We would like for it to go back to Sunday or Saturday night because with kids you have a lot of sports on Friday night. BUT WE LOVE IT and PHIL!
CBS is crazy if they don’t continue this show past 29 seasons…everyone I know loves this show!!!
Amazing Race is fun and we look forward to it every season. Best reality show on any network!
We look forward to AR every year! Best reality show on TV….come on CBS!
the amazing race is one of my husbands and my favorites show! We are looking forward to it’s start this fall. We like it better than Suvivor as the winners have truly earned their win. We love seeing diverse cultures and lands- please keep the show going.
My husband and I love the Amazing Race. It is fun, exciting, uplifting and just plain entertaining. We appreciate that it’s a decent show with no sex or violence. We look forward to each season. This is one of two shows that we try never to miss.
The Amazing Race is a fantastic show! My family loves it! They (CBS) needs to air season 29 ASAP! Hopefully it will be with teams that are ‘everyday normal people’ that is what makes the show a must watch. My family and friends will not be watching MacGyver. That show is like going back in time to the 1980’s.
Have watched the AR since season one. It is our favorite reality show. Never miss an episode. We hope there will be many more seasons. Also hope they will continue to have two seasons each calendar year.
