The CW has announced early renewals for eight of their current TV shows — The Flash (season two), Jane the Virgin (season two), The 100 (season three), The Originals (season three), Reign (season three), Arrow (season four), The Vampire Diaries (season seven), and Supernatural (season 11).
Of the network’s other current series, this only leaves the fate of Hart of Dixie up in the air. Season three of Beauty and the Beast doesn’t have a start date yet but it’s looking like it will have a summer run.
Here’s the press release:
THE CW PICKS UP EIGHT OF ITS CURRENT SERIES FOR 2015-2016 SEASON
Network Orders Additional Season for All Scripted Series on Its Fall 2014 Schedule
More Proven Original Series Throughout the Year, Including Fall 2015, Midseason 2016, and Summer 2016
January 11, 2015 (Pasadena, CA) – The CW Network has picked up eight of its current series for the 2015-2016 season, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW, during the network’s session at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena. In essence, The CW picked up all of the scripted series from its Fall 2014 schedule to next season.
“Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience,” said Pedowitz. “By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season’s storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups.”
The series being ordered for the 2015-2016 season include ARROW (Season 4), JANE THE VIRGIN (Season 2), REIGN (Season 3), SUPERNATURAL (Season 11), THE 100 (Season 3), THE FLASH (Season 2), THE ORIGINALS (Season 3), and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES (Season 7). Specific premiere dates for each series will be announced at a later time.
What do you think? Which of these shows do you think you’ll be watching next season? Do you think any of them should have been cancelled instead?
I really enjoy Jane the Virgin and so happy to see it has been renewed for a second season.
I’m so happy Reign, Jane the Virgin, The Originals, and TVD got renewed ! Reign probably got renewed due to the petition with over 7,000 signatures. But the show overall is amazing ! I am addicted to Reign. Jane the Virgin is also a good show and was probably renewed due to the awards the series received. But it it still a great show, and it’s very enjoyable to watch. In the end, I am just very pleased that the CW chose to renew these shows !
Watched Arrow & The 100 for 2 seasons… stopped watching both… We don’t really watch any of the other shows on the CW.
For the 10 or so years of their existance, I can say I’ve never watched one full season of any CW series. Occassionally I will sample a show, but have always found them unworthy of my time.
They are not worthy, be gone, banish them to the hinterlands, oh wait, they are on the CW so they are already there, never mind.
The brothers, still kicking it after 11 seasons!
So many flops, so many renewals!!!
Amazing to see the depth to which CW is sinking to pretend it has a working network.
The 100?!!!!
Jane The Virgin?!!!
An umpteenth season of Supernatural?!!!!!
How will they improve keeping those massive flops around forever?!!!
I watch VD and The Originals. Although, I think my new favorite show is “The 100!” I can’t wait for the rest of season 2!
I don’t know if this is good news or not. It gives me the feeling that CW is preparing for the possibility that it might not exist next year
All but Jane the Virgin. Just haven’t been able to tune into it yet. All the others are among my favorite shows. Was hugely disaponted when The Tomorrow People got cancelled!!!
I watch The Originals,Reign, Arrow and The Vampires Diaries. I really enjoy these shows. I soooo happy that there staying on. Thanks Karen
when everything has horrible numbers, renew everything
Exactly!
The CW street teamers will tell you that they watch all those shows, but nobody watches those shows!!
They’re disasters and all CW does is renew them!!
How absurd and depressing!
tells you how bad their “bench” and new show development are. renew everything because you have nothing in the works or on the shelf to replace them with.
And I agree with you on the posts about people saying they watch these shows. if half of them actually watched, the ratings would be a lot higher.
So happy The 100 and Jane the Virgin were renewed
Best news remember there is also JTV and the originals the flash supernatural arrow the 100 TVD and Regin we have to watch thous too
Best news all weekend finding out about an early renewal for Supernatural and Arrow! What a great way for the fantastic casts and crews of these great shows to start off the new year! I am definitely looking forward to this!
To me the bad news is cast and crews who may actually have success won’t get to work again, crowded out by flop-makers!!
Can’t believe the CW has renewed almost the entire Fall line-up with the exception of ANTM and Whose Line Is It Anyway? This could be BAD NEWS for both Hart of Dixie & Beauty and the Beast which the new season won’t premiere in the Summer.
ANTM has already been renewed and the next season of Whose Line debuts 4/10 with 24 episodes.
awesome, i love a0rrow and the 100!
