It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Disappointed – the networks never give shows a chance to catch on.
It’s either good ratings right off the bat or bye-bye.
Some the best shows in the TV history – opened up to poor ratings and then found their niche – “Cheers” comes to mind.
By all means replace this very good show with another classless, mindnumbing reality show.
This is a refreshingly, interesting show. The actors are not the same, old, main stream ones you see over and over. And the characters are quirky and believable. I like it and would like to see the series continue.
What a shame ! I love this show. Why can’t the “powers” give a new program a chance.
Unfortunate. I enjoyed the show and wanted to see it develop. Dean Winters ( Russ Agnew is a complicated somewhat repulsive but fascinating character. CBS should have moved it out of the graveyard of Sunday night and given it chance to grow. Rather than filling holes of other canceled programs with repeats of Big Bang Theory and NCIS – everywhere, we can think of, This show should have been dropped in.
Please keep Battle Creek on. Try moving the time slot, rethink your expectations. Don’t just give up on this show – it’s quite unique and worth taking a chance on. My husband and I have watched every show. We can’t count as more than 100 percent. But we do count. And this show deserves better from you.
please don’t cancel!
Have to voice our disapproval. We love that show! Best show on any of the networks.
Terribly disappointed.
Battle Creek is one of the few shows I actually watch! I can’t believe CBS is canceling it! Don’t do it!
Very disappointed!! CBS you got this wrong!! This show deserves a second chance. I was disappointed about Reckless getting cancelled but got over it. My husband and I watch other shows on Sunday nights but looked forward to watching this and other shows on demand. Please reconsider bringing back this show for a second season.
please do not cancel battle creek its my only pleasure
I love this show. What a shame that CBS would not give this show another chance. So much junk on TV and a nice show like this gets axed.
I am so disappointed Battle Creek was cancelled. It was my favorite show on TV. Please reconsider and renew the series. That will make many viewers happy.
Battle Creek is a refreshing crime show, an almost unheard of thing. Equally rare, it does not center on a misanthropic Sherlock Holmes clone (not bad in itself but way overdone in the last dozen years). Rarest of all: it is set somewhere other than ones of the two coasts. That alone may b the reason execs from LA and NYC have no feeling for it.
Battle Creek is a great show and we really look forward to watching it! Please don’t cancel it!
Bring back Battle Creek! Give it a chance. It’s well acted, well written and actually believable. It’s hard to believe you renewed CSI Cyber over this.
Please don’t cancel! Great writing, great acting, great stories!
