CBS has had mixed success with their new crime dramas this season. NCIS: New Orleans has been renewed for a second season while Stalker has been dropped from the schedule and may likely be cancelled. What will happen to Battle Creek? Stay tuned.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: CBS has cancelled the Battle Creek series midway through its first season.
Final season averages: 0.75 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.12 million total viewers.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
It figures that when I finally find a network TV show that’s good enough to watch, the network cancels it and keeps every reality show an educated idiot can think of. This is a Vince Gilligan masterpiece and it’s just getting good! I love the humor and romance just getting started between Russ and Holly. Dean Winters is so sexy and cool. Used to love the insurance commercial he was in…I can’t remember what company it was! This show needs to stay on. It’s better than Better Call Saul, sorry Vince, but WTF?? I can’t even grasp what the hell… Read more »
My family and I really enjoy watching this show give it a second season.
This is the only show (beside the Late Show with David Letterman) that I look forward to watching. An intelligent, witty program with a great cast of characters. My husband and I watch it every week and we are hoping that CBS reconsiders its cancellation. There aren’t enough entertaining programs on any of the channels anymore. It is sad that there are so many reality shows on TV and they continue to stay on. Battle Creek is a good one – please give it another season.
This program is so well written and acted that it went over the heads of 18 to 49 year old viewers, had to be dropped by CBS. This was my favorite drama currently on TV. It was so good I feared this would happen, so I investigated its acceptance by the network and my fears were sadly confirmed. The same thing happened to my former favorite program: Longmier. While I’m a free market booster, I must admit this is a downside of my philosophy.
Hi JT, I too am a fan of quality writing and am a fan of the same shows you are. However, Longmire got dropped by A&E and picked up by Netflix. I can only hope that they do the same for Battle Creek.
Another series canceled because the demo ratings don’t fit expectations. Most of this age group probably can’t find Battle Creek on a map much less understand the cultural significance of the events that the rust belt region has endured to bring it to this nexus. Why would they renew it.They can’t even understand it.
Dumb to take it off. Really good chemistry. Look forward to the show
oh well
cheer’s

I like this show and I don’t want it to be cancelled . It’s funny and entertaining. I love the cast …..so please reconsider about canceling this show
Please, for once, give a show a chance! This is entertaining, funny and well acted. Beats a lot of other stuff out there like all the reality shows. I feel this show would be a bigger hit if given the chance and a decent time slot — how can you expect anything to do extremely well when it is put on against a blockbuster like Revenge was — especially at mid-season.
This show started slow and I wasn’t sure about it but it was getting better and better. By the last few eps I was looking forward to a second season. another show not given enough time to really catch on. I am disappointed we won’t see season 2.
Battle Creek is a great show. Get rid of the stupid reality shows. They aren’t reality anyway. Might want to look at your demographic. There are a lot of people over 49 who watch TV.
CBS please keep Battle Creek around. It’s one of the best detective shows you have and we love it.
This show might have done better, according to your scewed ratings except for WD & TD. Bring this back. Its entertaining, unlike the “reality” shows, which are not in any way, shape or form.
Keep Battle Creek. Don’t cancel it. Fix it up a little, but keep it going.
Oh, and P.S. If the show continues on, I think they should make Candice Bergen a semi-regular as Russ’s mother. That’s a part that could truly grow in addition to being darn funny. So get her “paroled” and onto the show more often. The only thing I’m not crazy about with Battle Creek is the forced relationship between Russ and Holly – love both characters but the “relationship” doesn’t work for me. Russ is better off being the lone, irritable wolf. I’m not even sure why the Holly character is necessary other than the pretty girl/love interest. I think, also,… Read more »
Battle Creek is brilliantly funny, creative, with a great cast… and for that they get cancelled? Someone is crazy stupid!
