ABC gave Black Box a straight-to-series order and ordered 13 episodes without seeing a pilot first. They held it until late in the season (typically not a good sign) on Thursdays at 10pm as a replacement for their hit show, Scandal. Will Black Box live up to expectations? Black Box revolves around a beautiful and brilliant neuroscientist (Kelly Reilly) who’s hiding the fact that she’s bipolar. The rest of the cast includes Ditch Davey, David Ajala, Terry Kinney, Ali Wong, David Chisum, Laura Fraser, Siobhan Williams, and Vanessa Redgrave.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Love this show! The acting is superb, the stories are compelling and human. The characters are complex and flawed. It is far and above so much better than anything else on TV. As others have said, put it on another night geared to another demographic. Kelly Reilly truly deserves an Emmy…she is fantastic. Please renew this show!
I LOVE this show. Everyone has already said why, but I think Kelly Reilly is phenomenal; subtle, powerful and succinct with just a look. The subject matter is most interesting — there’s nothing like it on television right now. Market it better to the over-50 audience (I’m 60-something) and maybe the ratings will improve.
I love this show and was stunned when Cathrine was fired and I thought that it might be canceled but PLEASEEEEE DON’T CANCEL!! Every rating I have read is positive and I think that it should come on for another season and I know I am not the only one. There is so much drama and you just never know what is going to happen. You cannot predict anything in this show and it keeps you on your toes!!
This show is amazing !! It is well acted & well written. The best drama show on television. ABC would be “crazy” not to bring this show back for another season. It should receive an Emmy. I applaud ABC for having the “guts” to put this show on the air. Please don”t cancel !!
Love Black Box! This is the first show dealing with psychiatric issues and promotes a better understanding of mental illness. That fine line between genius and insanity is proven here. As a counselor I see this in young people more often than one might think and this show can help us all to see mental illness as a disease for which there is treatment.
This is by far my new favorite show and I am crestfallen to think it will be cancelled. When she got fired I immediately thought oh no, must be bad ratings which is a shame

Not only the great stories, acting, information about the field of psychiatry, but the compelling and addictive nature of the show puts it close to that of “Scandal!” If the ratings didn’t make you happy, please try it another time or day as I will watch it anytime and any day….just bring it back! this is by far the best show of the season. very well written . outstanding cast
I am begging you to please keep this show on air for another season. I myself suffer from a mental illness and it is very empowering for me to see this show and gives me hope. It is something that keeps m going week to week and I would be a mess without it. I got all my friends and family hooked… Please please please do not cancel this show. Excellent, excellent show! Unfortunately the numbers have dropped in their target demographic which doesn’t bode well for renewal.
Powers that be…please promote this show and consider putting it on another night. Everything, from the premise to the acting, the visual to the music…story lines, complex relationships, family, romance, psychological variances…this show has it all!
Take a chance and renew!!!
