ABC continues their search to find a new hit family sitcom for Wednesday nights. So many have failed and been cancelled. Will Black-ish be the next to go or will it be a success in the ratings and be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On Black-ish, patriarch Dre Johnson (Anthony Anderson) begins to wonder if his success has caused him and his family to lose touch with their roots. The rest of the family is played by Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Miles Brown, Marsai Martin, and Laurence Fishburne.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: ABC has renewed Black-ish for a second season.
Final season averages: 2.28 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.10 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Black-ish TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Love it!
I have truly enjoyed this shows comedic content and genius creativity of a portrayal of an African American family. Since the beginning of the season and the first episode, I have
looked forward to watching the show on Wednesday nights!! Truly very entertaining and a good way of promoting family time together. I do hope that it will continue to be aired for another season!!! Thank you for the laughter!!!! : )
We are a white Jewish family with kids 18 (male) & 15 (female)-we love watching this show as a family-it is relatable & hysterical! Please keep it going!
My Husband and I are both mixed race and we have a 15 year old son. This is one of the few shows on television that we can watch as a family and all of us really enjoy. Its smartly written and hilarious with topics that we can totally relate to.
Why is it when other ethnic groups have a sitcom or show that is produced by that ethnic group is always canceled when they are – in the same income bracket as their neighbors/co-workers, don’t act like buffoons, have the same intellect, a job on the same level or above their co-workers, has a college degree, is accepted as an equal at all levels @ their jobs/neighbors, isn’t treated like a outcast, everyone can express their differences without any conflict & move to complete their task at hand with acceptance? Sitcoms like this shows that blacks have a good paying… Read more »
This show is all about how the father can act like as many negative KKK stereotypes as he can.
Continue it please! Its the only show besides Jeopardy that i look forward to consistently. Blackish needs to continue!
Wonderful show. Deals with the complexity of what you want to hold onto from your culture and what you may let go of. From these comments, I see so many people have a lot of BAGGAGE (LOL), which is the point of the show. Everyone has BAGGAGE, and you have to decide what you may do with your BAGGAGE. Great acting by all of the actors and actresses.
Not bad although the effort to “Please Everyone” almost makes the actors stretch too far laying the bombs. I have concern for the Mom character – she may have a thyroid problem indicated by her bulging eyes…Please ask her to have that checked by an Internist. Abnormal pressure maybe…

WOW!!!!! I thought the same thing about those BULDGING EYES, its annoying looking at her, like she is always startled!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it’s hereditary. Her mom Diana Ross has the same bulging eyes.
I did not know the mother is Diana Ross’s daughter. She looks nothing like her mother.
Saw Diana at the Sands Casino, she sang was better then ever..and is still beautiful. Did not see bulging eyes!!!!!!!!!!
I think it’s hereditary. Her mom Diana Ross has the same eyes.
VERY FUNNY SITCOM. FAMILY ORIENTED, CLEAN LANGUAGE. MUCH NEEDED AND A KEEPER!!!!
This show is terrible.
What would happen if the network made a show called White-ish???
White , yellow or red people don’t have to have a show called after their color, HELOW!!
There is NOT ONE sitcom that continuously talks about OUR color, how we should be proud of OUR color, how OUR color is picked on etc, etc. We watch sitcom’s because most times they are funny, and then you have Black-ish using the RACE CARD. Do you understand now????? No hard feeling, of course.
This is a really well written and very funny show!! I am a suburban dwelling, African-American mother of a mixed-race teen. Sometimes I find myself thinking about issues that cause Anthony Anderson’s character to overreact. I find his reaction and the response of his family hilarious and well though out. I really hope this show survives. I tend to catch it On Demand, as I do the Goldbergs and Modern Family. I view it this way so that my daughter and I can watch together. During the week she usually has a lot of homework, projects, activities, and is winding… Read more »
I love Black-ish. My husband and I are both professionals in our early 40’s. We have
4 sons (18, 14, 8, 6), as a family we can all watch together, laugh and fellowship.
I love the writing and the comedic timing of all actors.
I would love a second season!!
As someone who is multi-ethnic (African, Scottish, Sioux), i find this show insulting. This the same ghetto crap that’s being spoon fed to viewers in the last 15+ years. I agree with one of the responders – “what if they called a show whitish”? Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be out in the streets leading protest marches. In addition, what does it mean getting in touch with his roots? So, as an example, a person of Lebanese or Chadian ancestry is going to have emotional conflicts because they moved to the suburbs? Take this garbage off the air. It’s… Read more »
