Even though The Blacklist TV show’s ratings have dropped significantly each year, NBC still renewed it for a fifth season. Meanwhile, the spin-off — The Blacklist: Redemption — was cancelled after just one installment. At the end of this season, the original series should have well over 100 episodes in the can — more than enough for an attractive syndication package. Is this the end of the road for the Concierge of Crime? Will The Blacklist be cancelled or renewed for season six? Stay tuned.
An action thriller, The Blacklist stars James Spader, Megan Boone, Diego Kattenhoff, Ryan Eggold, Harry Lennix, Amir Arison, Mozhan Marnò, and Hisham Tawfiq. The NBC crime drama centers on one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (Spader). He offers to help the authorities, if rookie agent Elizabeth Keen (Boone) partners with him. In season five, Red is in the process of rebuilding his criminal empire, with her at his side. Although she’s still working for the Feds, Liz is sorely tempted to indulge her more criminal side. **Status update below.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/17 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fourth season of The Blacklist averaged a 0.99 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.284 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like The Blacklist TV series? Did you expect it to be cancelled or renewed for a sixth season on NBC? When do you think it should end?
**5/12/2018 Status Update: The Blacklist is renewed for season six on NBC. Details here.
Renew!!!
Show is just a soap opera with a weekly FBI chase thrown in for action. 5 years of the same story line about an aging criminal who wears a fedora and does hammy little monologs and his dufus daughter who is unbelievable as an FBI agent. Writers have described this show as primarily a love story between these two. Sheesh! Would be better if they just redid as a crime show. Needs to be reworked or should go.
Come on , has to be renewed
Please do not cancel. Love Red!!
This show has a strong, loyal following. If you are basing renewal on what “appears” 18 to 49 year olds’ are watching I don’t think that accurately reflects who is watching this show. This is one of the best shows I have seen on tv in a very long time. If it does not go to season 6, NBC is going to lose a lot of viewers. PLEASE renew this show.
Cancel – It was such a good show but Lizzies character is so boring. James Spader is carrying the whole show but its gone too far away from the cops and bad guy to almost a buddy heist kind of show. Theres scenes and cut aways (and soundtrack choices) which make me feel like the writers have been watching too much Oceans Eleven!
The Nlacklist is easily the Best show on TV with the best actor on earth, James Spader. Please renew.
Renew….love this series
This is by far the Best TV series I’ve ever watched. Very different. Storylines are fantastic, love the unexpected twists, so many jaw dropping moments. The cast are fanominal. They click together so well. Each person owns their character. I look forward to watching when new episodes air, but as a single mom I don’t usually get to watch each episode on its new night. I DVR every single episode and watch individually in my spare time. Sometimes it takes me weeks or even longer to catch up, but it’s still my number one go to show. Best show on… Read more »
Please do not cancel Blacklist…there is still alot if story to tell and there is no other show like this..I love James Spader..he makes the show
Best show ever!! Just finished all the season Netflix has!
Please continue Blacklist. My husband and I enjoy it very much. We look forward to watching it every week. All of the actors do an awesome job. Thank you.
I was disappointed when they killed off Tom Keen. The Tom- Liz- Red triangle made the storyline more interesting and Tom’s relationships with Aram and Ressler were just developing.
Its just not had the same oomph factor since Tom was killed
Please, please renew for Season 6. There are so many things we need answers to, please don’t leave us hanging! James Spader is so perfect as “Red Reddington” as well as the rest of the cast. The episodes are filled with twists and turns, so you’re never quite sure what to expect. It is one of the very few real quality shows left on TV. Aside from the fact that “I’m in love with James Spader”, along with the rest of his female fans, my week will be so empty without Black List leaving me with nothing to look forward… Read more »
The Blacklist is seen in 175 countries and it’s streamed on Netflix so I think NBC has to give at least one more season so they can wrap it up and give t he show a proper ending. It would be s shame to drag fans along for 5 years and just end it with no questions answered m, no series finale.
