After co-starring on NCIS for 13 seasons, Michael Weatherly has his own CBS TV show on Tuesday nights, Bull. Has Weatherly gone from one hit to another or is Bull a flop? Cancel or keep it?
Inspired by the early career of Doctor Phil McGraw, the Bull TV show revolves around the brash and charming Doctor Jason Bull (Weatherly). He combines psychology, human intuition, and high-tech data to learn what makes jurors, attorneys, witnesses and the accused tick. His team members are played by Freddy Rodriguez, Geneva Carr, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Annabelle Attanasio, and Christopher Jackson.
Premiering on September 20th, Bull launched to an average of a 2.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 15.56 million viewers. It was a very positive start in the ratings, no doubt in part because CBS gave it a very compatible timeslot — sandwiched between NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans.
In week two, the numbers saw a drop of more than 12%, falling to a 1.89 in the demo with 13.61 million. They dropped again in week three and the ratings have fallen nearly every episode after that. The last new episode of 2016 averaged a 1.44 in the demo with 11.61 million.
While Bull’s numbers are still positive, it is concerning that they keep dropping lower and lower. If the ratings keep falling, CBS could potentially cancel Bull but that hardly seems likely.
The network needs new shows and Bull is perfectly tailored for the CBS schedule. At this point, I suspect they’ll renew it for a second season but may ask for some tinkering behind-the-scenes to try to attract more viewers (ala season two of Code Black).
But, what do you think? Do you like the Bull TV show on CBS? Is it worth watching? Cancel or keep it?
I like Bull!!! It’s the only show my wife and I watch together. Keep it!!
Oh yeah KEEP it, I like Bull, especially the last client defendant CEO Ginny Bretton (Justine Lupe), whose company is accused of killing an employee with its self-driving car — Ginny was hot and gave me a stiffy though she could go a little lighter on the facial ticks, all in all keep Bull and the crew.
Keep it!
My husband and I really enjoy the series Bull. Keep it.
As great as its ratings are, I can’t believe the critical reception for “Bull” is so negative, and I avoided the show because of it. Plus, the ratings for “NCIS: New Orleans” have slipped by 25% since it got bumped to 10 pm. I suspect that CBS will probably have “Bull” and “NCIS: New Orleans” switch timeslots at some point. “If a new show on CBS doesn’t have a positive-enough critical reception, it’s not going to last very long on the network.” I think this usually applies to CBS’s sitcoms, but I’m not sure if this applies to CBS’s dramas.… Read more »
I like it. Actually, I wasn’t sure in the beginning, but I’ve stuck with it and seem to like it better each week. I’m a big fan of Michael Weatherly and I think he’s beginning to develop the character well.
absolutelyly love this show. one of very few I actually pay to watch on Amazon as I do not pay for cable to watch commercial tv.
Great show. Keep it. Finally something based on fact yet fresh and new. Weatherly is great as Bull. Excellent staff and crew, too. Tired of all the NCIS. This great change.
Bull is growing on us. We had no interest in another arrogant Michael Weatherly character. Keep it
keep it
Please keep it. Love the show.
I think it’s refreshing and new and I say keep it. I like Michael Weatherly and I think he does a good job in his show
With 11-15 Million viewers per episode in each week…..What else do you want CBS ? Jesus…..I dare them to cancel it just like they did to limitless 🙁
I like the show, clever plots and some twists. Keep it.
Same every week. Boring
