Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

What a disappointment, so typical of so many shows that suck us in and we never get a true finale.
Please, Please, Please bring back this show! We need season 2.
I can’t believe that Starz isn’t gonna continue the story of Camelot and King Arthur. .I was so into this series. It pissed me off that they left with the ending the way they did. I keep watching Camelot on demand hoping for the rest of the story!
I am disappointed when a good show is cancelled. There is so much trash on the tv program ! Arthurian legends speak a little bit about the beginnings of our civilization and there is always something to learn there. The actors were excellent, the script, everything. So frustrating.
This is getting to be a regular occurrence where shows are cancelled mid-stream it’s so frustrating, and I’m angry at Starz for this. I think they are too cheap to spend the money on such quality programming as this. Very disappointing.
When television has become so full of reality shows that do nothing but dull the senses, programs so ridiculous. I have come to the conclusion that a good book is the only way to assure you will get the full story. Being disappointed so many times by networks canceling wonderful shows that keep you coming back, get you so involved with the characters only to end it without a second thought about it’s audience. Camelot is rich in history and such a pleasure to watch as was The Borgias. REIGN, Penny Dreadful, The Tudors and other shows that are based… Read more »
PLEASE PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!
It’s sad to say the least, when a series like Camelot is discontinued after one season, yet other meaningless distractions with less talent and uneventful plot lines are the media crack addiction of zombie viewers week after week. It’s says a great deal about the sophistication and intellect of a society that finds shows like the Simpsons & Sex In The City a weekly ritualistic indoctrination, yet shows like Camelot bountiful in history, intrigue and suspense all wrapped up in period correct costumes, sets and Brave Heart like productions are cast aside for the sake of misguided executive producers and… Read more »
This is very disappointing. Camelot is by far an awesome and exciting series. I hope a change of mind happens
stupid boring storyline with same old same old conflict after confilct with little or no saving grace…it’s better off for this dreary series to die. Top bad really since the story could have followed a much better plot line. Farewell noble king done in by bad writers.
please reconsider!
I was waiting for it. This show is the best!!!! Please reconsider
One of my favorite shows! I’m crushed….please bring it back
Please reconsider and bring season 2!!! I’m almost wishing I hadn’t even started it now because now I’m hooked and just found out there’s no season 2
Yes, I am very sorry to hear that Camelot is not bringing season 2. It is second in the whole entire King and Queen shows in my book. All of the Actors and Actresss are fantastic. I cannot find another show I have enjoyed as much as Camelot And Reign and Borgias. We need more shows like these to keep in mind of every generation how things were and why we are today because of how things were. Take care Mary Nee
