It looks like The Catch has failed to catch on. The ABC TV series has been cancelled after two seasons. The defacto series finale airs tonight.
Created by Kate Atkinson, Helen Gregory, and Jennifer Schuur, the drama follows a game of cat and mouse between private investigator, Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos), and the man she loves, the elusive con artist, Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause). The cast also includes Jay Hayden, Jacky Ido, Rose Rollins, Sonya Walger, Elvy Yost, and John Simm.
Unlike Shonda Rhimes’ series that have also aired on Thursday nights, The Catch has never pulled in strong ratings. Even after extensive retooling as a romantic comedy, season two has been averaging a poor 0.68 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 3.32 million viewers, making it one of ABC‘s lowest-rated series for the 2016-2017 season.
Produced by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, The Catch was supposedly a favorite of ABC boss Channing Dungey. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to land the low-rated series a third season.

Yes, it should have been renewed! Great actors, fun and fresh topic. ABC, thats 4 shows cancelled this season alone. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Why don’t you poll the people who watch before making the decisions?
Are you counting those of us that can’t stay awake until 10 pm and watch ON DEMAND? I watch ALL my shows ON DEMAND.

We absolutely LOVE the Catch!! Please bring it back for Season 3! If not ABC, maybe on another network. Keep producing episodes like the ones in Season 2 and I’m sure viewership will increase. Two seasons only is not enough for this incredibly well written delight! Maybe a different night and/or time slot would help!
I love this show I watch it on Hulu, I’m done with ABC they even canceled last Man Standing for no reason at all.
The Catch is the best show on tv. What in the world is ABC thinking? They didn’t give the show a chance! I’m boycotting their network! Back to my Firestick!
As usual…. a good show gets the ax…. People at ABC don’t give good shows a chance! ABC hardly promoted it…a few commercials on the day of the show unlike other shows’ promotions. Look what happened to Nashville, Blood & Oil, etc. Too many dumb, mindless shows continuing on….Get with it, ABC !!

Wow really??.i thought the catch was great..funny and fast paced.i got my friends and family hooked on it.it deserves a 3rd season!.theres programs on different stations that are dull .or stupid.this is not one of them.how many more reality shows can you do??

I agree with you, Patricia! They are canceling a great show with wonderful plot twists and a fantastic cast but leaving on idiot junk! Makes no sense to me. Maybe if they had tried harder to get a following, like they do other seriously awful shows to would have gotten the audience it deserved.
I LOVE this program because it’s smart, sexy and keeps you intrigued on every episode. I agree with Patricia the shows she mentions are not funny at all! That’s why I no longer pay for any cable company. I just watch them on demand. Probably jure they don’t count the on demand viewing. I hope they bring it back as I was anticipating what was going to happen in Season 3.
