Last season, CBS introduced only seven new shows during the regular season. They cancelled three, renewed three, and one (Supergirl) moved to The CW. How will their new programming do in the ratings this time around? Stay tuned.
CBS shows this season (so far): 2 Broke Girls, 48 Hours, 48 Hours: NCIS, 60 Minutes, The Amazing Rice, The Big Bang Theory, Big Brother, Blue Bloods, Bull, Candy Crush, The Case Of, CBSN: On Assignment, Code Black, Criminal Minds, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Doubt, Elementary, The Great Indoors, Hawaii Five-0, Hunted, Kevin Can Wait, Life in Pieces, MacGyver, Madam Secretary, Man with a Plan, Mom, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, The Odd Couple, Pure Genius, Ransom, Salvation, Scorpion, Superior Donuts, Survivor, Training Day, Undercover Boss and Zoo.
There’s lots of data that CBS execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing so far.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
Please renew Code Black. Best medical drama since ER. Pure Genius is also great.
Completely agree that Code Black and Pure Genius should be renewed!!!
CBS has really been messing up with moving shows around, especially nice la and ncis New Orleans. If they keep it up NBC is going to run all over them.
Lots of problems with CBS These days.everything from putting shows on with actors that stink and are there just because they have priority with network executives . To their late night show with host there so arrogant and stuck up and create hatred Views with their biased view. Now tell me is this a network to be trusted? Not in my eyes
Please renew Madame Secretary, one of the few shows you have that are worth watching! Excellent writing, excellent acting, such a pleasure to watch a show that has some inteligent value!
Please renew Madame Secretary, it is so well written, Inteligent, and wonderful acting, It is one of the few shows worth watching
Pure genius is an exceptional show of good family friendly quality. my husband and I both work in healthcare and really hope that it isn’t cancelled. It is not very often that we can sat down and watch such a good series together. I just love this series.
Pure genius is my favorite new show. Let it ride.
Please keep intelligent heartwarming shows like pure genius on the air. Give it a chance for more people to find it. it is a great show.
Elementary would probably do better if it were ever on. Half the time I tune in it isn’t there. Right now I’ve tuned in and Entertainment Tonight is on. How can anyone keep up with a show that is only on once in a while?
Please keep PURE GENIUS on it is an excellent show
Pure Genius….PLEASE KEEP this show of HOPE for another season!
2 broke girls SEASON 7 !!!!
Love Scorpion and NCIS
Still not over them cancelling limitless.
Whatever happened to “Monk”? Is “Elementary”, punished by CBS big shots for being exceptionally good, going to disappear likewise? And, just in case they are continually accused of deliberately trying to sabotage the show by giving it the worst time slot possible, what do you want to bet we won’t even get reruns–a la “Monk”?
2 Broke girls is Amazing!!!
