Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Definitely need to reconsider! At the very least produce a finale to tie up the loose ends. It’s cruel to leave your fans on a ledge!
Ditto to clean family content with dashes of real life story lines sprinkled through…a show that showed the warts and the resolve of a small community…maybe it is wistfulness on viewers part looking for escape from a society that sees to be crashing and burning.
I just finished watching Cedar Cove on Netflix last night after binge watching it the last week and was very disappointed to find out it was cancelled. It’s a good, clean family show that needs to be on TV! They take away all the good ones and show the disgusting pointless shows. Bad choice Hallmark, bad choice.
I recently watched the series on Netflix and loved it! I was saddened that it ended abruptly without resolve. It would be great to see a season four or maybe a movie to tie up loose ends. Great series; drama but feel good and tastefully executed.
I really loved Cedar Cove…..I’m very disappointed!!
My wife and I just watched the last episode of season 3 on Netflix. My wife loves this show. She says it makes her happy. As we were watching the final show I looked it up and saw that it had been cancelled. I couldn’t tell her until several minutes after the show had ended. She is seriously bummed. This is a really good show. Bring the show back. It’s been done several times. There is a faithful following for this show. Some of us have to watch it on Netflix and not when it’s on at its regular time… Read more »
My roommate and I loved Cedar Cove. We are so disappointed you canceled it. It was clean fun family entertainment and so sad these do not bring in the ratings you expect. We are very very disappointed.
I would love to have Cedar Cove return. I came across the show on Netflix and was very disappointed to find out there was no season 4. I really enjoyed watching the show and loved all the characters.
I love cedar cove and am so disappointed this show has been cancelle . Please bring it back.
PLEASE I beg of being this show back it was so wonderful to the pnw where I’m from on tv each week n the show was wonderful please bring it back!!!
Cedar Cove was a wonderful series. I just finished watching season 3 again on Netflix. I agree with the comments posted that a 2 hour final episode wrapping all the loose ends up would be the right thing to do. It would be a way to honor the loyal fans as well as Debbie and the whole Cedar Cove cast.
So sad to hear that another one of my favorite shows got cancelled. There aren’t enough wholesome shows to watch anymore and I wish Hallmark wasn’t so quick to cancel it. Bring back Cedar Cove!
I loved Cedar Cove…I so wish it would continue…
So sad about Cedar Cove getting canceled. You should at the very least consider some movies to continue the storiy like you do with Signed, Sealed, Delivered.
I’m about ready to give up television. So many of my favorite shows are not coming back this year, and this one really hurts I read all of the Cedar Cove books and was so looking forward to seeing more of my favorite Debbie Macomber characters. I suggest that you stick to movies and stay away from series that you aren’t willing to support through the good and the not so good times. I would ha the to be disappointed again.
