Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I just spent many hours on Netflix playing catch up only to be left hanging!!!
Please at least make a movie to tie up the loose ends. PS I love Paul and I think Olivia does, too. But how will I ever know for sure???
Ugh! I am so upset about this! Really not fair. I was looking forward to watching Olivia hopefully choose Paul over Jack!!! Pleeeaaaaase bring Cedar Cove back, if only for one season and tie up loose ends!!!!
Bring it back please.
Bad decision to end the series without warning and no ending to story lines. Chesapeake Shores not a good replacement.
I am very disappointed that Cedar Cove has been cancelled! It was an excellent show that I looked forward to watching in the fall. Please bring it back!!!
I think it is a disgrace. I read the whole series and was looking forward to folowwing the show. I am really disappointed with hallmark. I hope it will reconsider. They canceled one of the best shows there is
I was fery disappointed in Hallmark. This was an excellent show. Now I hesitate to start watching any new series for fear that you will cancel it in
“mid-air”.
Not fair, at least one more season to not leave the fans hanging. Less than a season would seem the end of the show would only have been for convience not for substance. Sorry the viewing numbers matter more than the viewers. Do the actors want to go on with their roles.
Hallmark had a hit but put on worst night for viewing. Shame it not tried at different time. Great stories, fantastic casting. Beautiful setting, all in incompetent programming hands. Perfect show to b picked up by another network, rerun 1-3 seasons and put on any night but Saturday. Shame so I say
I’m tired of finding a show I like and then it gets cancelled. I LOVE shows like this. I loved Judging Amy and Cedar Cove reminded me of that show. They need to bring it back or start another show similar to it and Judging Amy.
My wife and I watched every episode, had the DVR set to record them all. Since you have all the cast around doing other features, try to (at the least) do a series finale, or a continuing series with one or two episodes a season (like some of your other features) to see if the interest was still there. We watched every episode but were disappointed with the story’s moral dip (living together instead of marriage) and wondered if your audience declined because we look to the Hallmark Channel for a clean, wholesome, oasis in the contemporary mess of “entertainment”… Read more »
Yes, I would like to Cedar Cove return. If it does not generate enough views, then at least wrap up all the plots left hanging.
This is the second Hallmark series I’ve enjoyed only to see it no longer on Netflix, regardless of the reason. When Calls the Heart Is my favorite Hallmark series thus far and Netflix does not have season 3 available. Is this a Hallmark or a Netflix decision?
im so sad that there isnt a season four:(
i have really enjoyed watching this series on netflix . there arent many good shows these days, im happy to be able to turn to Hallmark
So sorry that this show was cancelled, I always looked forward to watching it
Yes, I was disappointed with the cancellation of Cedar Cove. It was a refreshing respite see this type of creativity on TV. Andie McDowell was excellent. “Jack” was a fantastic, finagling alcoholic personality (so good maybe it resonated with some folks). The acting was excellent. The casting was well done, even if the characters were switched up a bit here and there. The discussions surrounding morals and character were good to see. If I were to add any criticism, it would be to the stylist. The hair colors and over making of some of the characters was a challenge to… Read more »
