Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I hope Netflix picks it up and makes new episodes like it did for Longmire on A&E.
I am very disappointed to hear that Cedar Cove was cancelled. If there’s any way to bring my favorite show back I would really appreciate it.
I never missed an episode and am sad that an ending was never recorded to give closure to some of the story elements. I have since come to the conclusion to not watch any continuing shows. The t.v. networks have lost me as a viewer in many shows.
I agree whole heartedly with Lori. In my search to see when Season 4 would be released, I learned it was cancelled. Hallmark is a favorite channel, knowing I can depend on quality shows and no garbage. Cedar Cove had a great story line and the cast naturally portrayed Debbie Macomber’s work. Cancelling was a bad decision.
I totally agree with Teresa and Lori, I came on the website to see when it was starting because Hallmark was advertising their series but not showing Cedar Cove. This is sad news and a bad decision on Hallmarks end.
There must be more to this than is being told by Hallmark. Why would you end a show leaving 1.6 million viewers hanging? I too loved the show — I looked forward to this every Saturday night. And I agree with Kathi — poorly advertised, only on for short periods…The cast was wonderful so I have to believe the problem lies with the Hallmark network. Very disappointing.
I am so disappointed to hear Cedar Cove cancelled… With all the garbage on tv these days I always looked forward to watching it…I LOVED the cast and the story line. I’m so sad to see it go.
I just found out that this series has been cancelled. I’m very sad as I always enjoyed watching it. I’m still in shock. What a terrible decision!
I just recently found out this was cancelled and like so many others commenting was very upset. My whole family along with many friends faithfully watched every week. It is not fair to the fans to keep us hanging with that ending. Debbie Macomber wrote so many wonderful books, there would have been plenty of quality material for the writers. Please reconsider this terrible decision
bring it back .. it was a great show
I cannot tell you how disappointed and sad I am to read that Cedar Cove has been cancelled! The show was one of the best on TV, hardly anyone knew about it unless they watched Hallmark Channel constantly, because the show was not advertised correctly, and was only on for such short periods! They certainly didn’t get a fair deal if you ask me! Sooo disappointed with Hallmark for cancelling this show!
Love Cedar Cove and am so disappointed to hear this. Finally a show on a Saturday night that my husband and I both look forward to and it gets cancelled. Must be too peaceful and calming. No one is murdered etc. It figures that it would end!
I can’t believe that Cedar Cove was caancelled. I subscribed to Halmark on Dish just for Cedar Cove. If it is not renewed I may not keep the subscription. It does not seem worth all of the rerun movies they have.
I am very disappointed with this cancellation. A great show with real and caring characters. Would love to see it return. Gives me less reasons to watch Hallmark Channel.
I read the Cedar Cove book series and looked forward to the show each week.
Please bring it back Hallmark. Good shows like this are hard to find.
I’m so disappointed to find out that Cedar Cove is cancelled. It was one of my favorite shows; funny, witty, and dealt with issues relevant today with sensitivity and good sense. It’s so hard to find shows that are not only entertaining, but classy enough that I can watch with my two very young grandchildren in the room.
Please make one more episode to give us fans much needed closure.
