Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Not happy! What is it playing on Netflix than? I loved the show, but a waste of time now that I have so many unanswered questions.
Please bring back Cedar Cove. I just started watching the series on Netflix. It is such a good show. It’s sad there are no more shows after season three.
Just when we were getting to know Warren’s Dad and enjoying Paul and the potential for him and Olivia! I really would love to see this program come back.
What I would like to say about Hallmark cancelling Cedar Cove is unprintable.
Just finished watching the series on Netflix, please, please do a final episode so we can see how everything end. Just 1 hour to tie up loose ends.
I just spent 3 days on my couch-binge watching Cedar Cove!! My favorite series of all time!! Only to find out there will be no season 4???? I am in love with this series and every single plot and character!! This is so extremely disappointing and totally unfair to the viewers and we pay for Netflix!!
I just discovered Cedar Cove a few weeks ago and finished it today. I am saddened it will not continue and I hope maybe one day in the future it will be renewed.
It’s not fair!!!! Bring back Cedar Cove!!! Yes needs finale!!!!
Please bring back a 4th season of Cedar Cove. Its an excellent series we’ve enjoyed as a family with a great story line and with real life situations and issues.
We miss Cedar Cove. It just ended with everything “hanging”. We are in a very rural area in flat NW Minnesota farm land and we thought life at Cedar Cove in such a unique setting was very interesting. We didn’t get let down easily, so it feels like being a fish that got hooked and then the fisherman walked away while we dangle on the line! Thanks for other good Hallmark shows.
I just watched the three seasons of Cedar Cove and am very disappointed that it ended with a real ending. This series needs at least a finale. Of course it would be better if it had another season or two to round out the characters.
Awful to leave us hanging after 3 great seasons……
I really love this show! I can’t understand why you wouldn’t bring it back. There are still a lot of people who like good wholesome shows. That the whole family can watch.
I just finished binging Cedar Cove on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed the story lines, wonderful cast and beautiful scenery . . . but now wish I had done my homework beforehand as I’m thoroughly disappointed by the abrupt ending of the show. Shame on you Hallmark!
A wonderful mix of human emotion with emphasis on moral values and doing what is right. Please bring it back and give it a proper ending.
