Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Many more positives about this series than not! Characters did great acting, the lake town was gorgeous, love the story lines. Sad to see it end, especially with no closure. Would be nice to have a 2-hr. Finale, we need this! : )
Agree with these comments. Was a nice wholesome show. Definitely needs a final show to wrap up all the loose ends. Very disappointed it won’t be back on.
I loved Cedar Cove….so disappointed!! I thought no way Hallmark would cancel a show. We need a finale anyway. Give us an ending….please. This is terrible!
I love Cedar Cove! I can’t believe it. I need answers! There are so many storylines that need closure! If Hallmark isn’t going to renew the season, at least finish the series with a final two hour episode to wrap it up!!! I love so much of Hallmark, please at least give us closure!!! I’m heartbroken!
I was astounded to see that Season 3 was the final season and only knew it because that was the title of the DVD when it was released. This is disgusting. Every time a great series is started, some network idiot decides to cancel it. This was one of the best (along with Mystery Woman and the Good Witch) and to leave viewers hanging with no closure is truly beyond belief. To be polite, Hallmark decision to cancel is very disappointing!
Loved Cedar Cove. I was looking forward to a new season. I will truly miss it
I’m so sorry to see the series cancelled. It was a breath of fresh air to see the integrity and wisdom that the characters applied to difficult, real- life issues.
I cannot believe the show would be cancelled without giving us a last episode that brings closure! Please bring at least one more 2-hour show that leaves us with the feel-good ending typical of Hallmark shows!
I LOVED this show! Finally a clean show that people can actually watch. AT LEAST give us a final episode!! What about everything that happens?
I lived This show. The cast the town the whole thing. Please bring it back for one more season to show what happens to everybody. Please!!!!
Can’t believe Cedar Cove was cancelled.. One of the best shows and cast on TV. If viewership was down, perhaps you should have changed the day it was aired from Saturday to another day, although I enjoyed all your series being showed/aired on 8PM Saturday evenings. You need to give us Cedar Cove lovers a final 2 hr. episode for closure. Am already missing this fine show.
I really enjoyed Cedar Cove. I’m so sad it won’t be back.
So very sad and disappointed!! I speak about this show all the time to friends and others. It is such a nice show about the various relationships that occur between friends, neighbors and new comers to this quaint little town located in the beautiful Pacific North West. The locale is extraordinary! The characters pull you in and if you have read Debbie Macomber’s series it is even more enjoyable. The show doesn’t necessarily follow the books but in this more digital world it was nice to see people caring, respecting and helping each other. I will truly miss it! I… Read more »
