Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Very disappointed Cedar Cove was cancelled. It was one of my favorite shows. Sure hope The Hallmark Channel realizes the show was loved by many and changes their mind.
Absolutely! Holding out hope for folks to come to their senses!!!
This is really heartbreaking. It’s very hard to find shows that don’t make me want to leave the human race.
My husband and I are so very disappointed to find that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. We have been looking for the previews for season 4 and decided to check online regarding the start date only to find that it has been cancelled. And with no notice to the viewers? So disappointed in your lack of respect for your viewers. Yes, we sure would like to see Cedar Cove return. Please bring back. this wonderful series.
I’m very disappointed that this show has been cancelled. I really enjoyed it. Many of my family and friends did too. I have lost a lot of my shows that I enjoy over the past year. It’s discouraging. I do hope to see the actors and actresses on other things. They were all so good.
I really couldn’t wait til cedar coves next season and now it’s been cancelled. I am very upset, I really enjoyed the scenery and the actors. The various storylines were family friendly. I’m really sad that it has been cancelled!!!!!!
OH MY GOD…I CANNOT believe Cedar Cove is cancelled !! It was the best show ever…..you must do everything you can to bring it back and finish….I am shocked…please..bring it BACK!
I was just sitting here thinking about Cedar Cove, one of my favorite Hallmark shows, and wondering when season 4 will start. I was thoroughly disappointed when I searched online and found that the show had been cancelled! To just leave the fans hanging like this, not ever getting to find out what happens to Jack and Olivia’s relationship, is just wrong! I am so sad and will miss Cedar Cove so much! 🙁
Disappointed!! I was looking forward to a 4th season. Oh no…..
I can’t begin to express how upset I am that Cedar Cove will not be returning to the Hallmark Channel for season 4. Why? Anyone who watched at least one episode of Cedar Cove would be hooked. I was looking forward to seeing every cast member this upcoming season.
Would love to have it continue. I read the books. It is a great series, creating the desire to “go there.” I had a difficult time watching only because of the aired time slot.
We were so looking forward to Season 4 and are very disappointed that it has been cancelled. Couldn’t you at least have one final episode to put a conclusion to the story?
Very disappointedly!!! I was really looking forward to it coming back on.
What cancelled? Shame on Hallmark leaving the viewers with unanswered questions and plot lines. We the viewer deserved better management. If there were concerns to not renew then the last episode should have given the viewer closures. We the viewer invest time and enjoy these family oriented shows, it’s too bad the God awful $$$$ signs dictate fate of these shows..Small consolation we can see our favorite actors in future shows….Hallmark executives should make better decisions for there viewers or we will go elsewhere for our viewing enjoyment…
I’m sick that Cedar Cove won’t be returning. That and the Good Wife on CBS were the ONLY shows I looked forward to. I’m 75 years old and most of the new dramas are too much for me. CC was so easy and had such beautiful scenery it was a comfort to me. I went to a senior center in the Seattle area and most everyone there talked about Cedar Cove. Please reconsider. With all the political unrest, the shootings, wars and racism, nothing provides some old fashioned values.
So agree!
I am very disappointed 2 hear Cedar Cove has been cancelled. I really enjoyed it and looked forward 2 each week. I love Hallmark.
