NBC has decided to pre-empt Chase once again but this time it’s looking a lot more permanent. The network has put the TV series on hiatus and replaced it with episodes of Minute to Win It. Though the network has not officially cancelled Chase, there’s certainly no compelling reason for NBC to bring it back.
Back in September, Chase debuted to mediocre ratings and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights for the new year, the ratings only got worse. It’s currently the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
NBC pre-empted Chase this week and replaced it with a double dose of Minute to Win It. That move paid off with the game show literally doubling the demo performance of Chase’s last original episode. Not surprisingly, NBC has now bumped the remaining episodes of Chase from the schedule.
The peacock network had given the show a full season order back in October but by December had trimmed that back from 22 to 18 installments. There are currently five unaired episodes of Chase on the shelf and there’s no word from NBC on when or if they’ll ever be aired.

I watched Chase when it was on Mondays opposite Hawaii Five-O by taping one or the other and watching it later. When it was on Wednesday I watched it as well. I could care less about a nighttime game show. Bring back Chase or if you won’t bring it back, at least air the rest of the episodes. Big mistake in cancelling Chase. Now I watch no tv on Wednesdays and that includes NBC.
It was getting poor ratings because people couldn’t stand Annie. She is annoying to the point that we repeatedly want to throw things at the TV. She acts like super woman jumping on helicopters and moving airplanes. While everyone else sits back and says there she goes again ! Some of the other characters are a lot more interesting than her yet she is the main character. I’m delighted its going.
As usual another good show taken off and why – there really are people that like this show – an d we are also in Canada or does that matter. I looked forward to presetting this show as a fav and have to watch silliness instead. What is wrong with the people making these decisions?
I was very disappointed last week when Chase did not come one. My girls & I love the show. It is on the same time as IDOL. Maybe a different night would be better. We would at least like to see the 5 other episodes.
i am one of the fans that like chase sometimes i watch it on nbc and the next time i want to see the same show again i go to cable i also agree minute it to win it can go there are enough game shows on tv now. please don’t take chase off the air.
I am hoping that NBC brings it back. One of the few shows on TV that I look forward to.
I love this show – the cast is a great one – i can’t picture any other actors in those roles. I love the actress who plays boots ! 🙂

The show is great its the time slots chosen for it that sucked! How could their ratings not go down when you had it up against Criminal Minds on Wednesday? I love the show and am so sick of game shows and reality shows. Chase was the only new show that I watched this season. I tried watching Harry’s Law but it was so “left” I abandoned it real quick.
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL Chase. Got better with each episode. Stop moving it and it would take off
What a shame! Chase is a great show. Networks just don’t give good shows a chance to catch on. Immediate results or canceled! This show has lots of potential. I will miss it.
I at would AT LEAST like to see the last five epoisodes. I will be disappointed to see that t will not return, but at least give the fans (no matter how measley a number you think there are) that little bit of respect. A good way to lose a fan of NBC (on of the not-so-great networks in my opinion, c’mon 2 HOURS of Minute to Win It?!?!?!?) is to cut us short of a show you put out there for us to like!!!
I loved Chase! With each episode that aired, the writing and plots got better and better. I really enjoyed the characters and thought the story line was allowing them to develop their personalities. I think it is one of the best shows recently debuted on television. Annie Frost seemed so credible (though remarkable). I hate all of the reality shows. I will greatly miss Chase.
I really enjoyed this show and wish they would just choose a different night. Too many other good shows on Wednesdays on other networks. I think Mondays after Chuck or Friday nights would be better. Please bring this show back.
a network that relies on fans should show the remaining episodes for the fans despite the fact that NBC wants to cancel. Every chance we had to watch we did and when we couldn’t we would catch up on HULU. so there are some loyal CHASE fans out there!
