NBC has decided to pre-empt Chase once again but this time it’s looking a lot more permanent. The network has put the TV series on hiatus and replaced it with episodes of Minute to Win It. Though the network has not officially cancelled Chase, there’s certainly no compelling reason for NBC to bring it back.
Back in September, Chase debuted to mediocre ratings and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights for the new year, the ratings only got worse. It’s currently the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
NBC pre-empted Chase this week and replaced it with a double dose of Minute to Win It. That move paid off with the game show literally doubling the demo performance of Chase’s last original episode. Not surprisingly, NBC has now bumped the remaining episodes of Chase from the schedule.
The peacock network had given the show a full season order back in October but by December had trimmed that back from 22 to 18 installments. There are currently five unaired episodes of Chase on the shelf and there’s no word from NBC on when or if they’ll ever be aired.
What do you think? Will you miss Chase? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

Bring back CHASE! That was the best show on tv. NBC officials must have their heads up their rear-ends. Not sure shere thos ratings come from, but I know several people who watched the show. Very realistic.
I hope Chase does not get cancelled. The main problem was it has been placed in killer time slots. I hope it is placed in syndication with new episodes the way Southland was.
I really liked this show. I watched it every week. Very disappointed they might shelve it.
Chase was a very good show….such a darn shame that it will be gone. Networks don’t give shows a chance, plus then make things worse by changing nights.
In the Fall we really enjoyed The Whole Truth, Outlaw, Good Guys and Chase, and now they are all gone! Very frustrating!
best show on tv. hope they bring it back. ii miss it. would buy dvd of all remaining episodes if available.
I am going to miss “Chase”. I understand why NBC would cancel it from a Nielsen perspective but to replace another scripted show with a mindless game show (or a “reality” show) is depressing and underscores the demise of network television.
“Chase” wasn’t perfect, but TV history tells us that drama shows can be fine tuned. The lead marshal, Annie, has definite star quality.
I love Chase. Why do they cancel the good action shows and leave crap on? And the female lead was great. Don’t cancel the show!!
I love Chase, and I’m very disappointed that it keeps getting bumped.
Chase is a great TV show, but unfortunately, we are stuck with people in the NBC programming department with questionable IQs and the attention span of a one year old. In the old days, once the programming schedule was set, it was set for the season and if the show didn’t do well at the end of the season, it was cancelled. These days, the shows are moved back and forth to different time slots and they expect people to keep up with it. What they do not understand is that by the end of the first month of the… Read more »
Bring Chase back!! The show was catching on. Give it a chance.
They changed it to American Idol night… nuff said. I loved Chase and I’d been checking On Demand for it however they snatched it off.
GIVE THIS SHOW A CHANCE! BEST SHOW ON T.V. BRING IT BACK!! TOO MANY REALITY SHOWS LETS GET RID OF SOME OF THEM
Chase was a fantastic show; great acting, great storytelling, a fun chase sequence in every episode, and *shock!* a strong female character in the lead who doesn’t rely on sex appeal to move the story along. I wonder if the networks have started to include the number of online views when reckoning what viewership amounts to – I know I exclusively watch TV online. But given that NBC has even yanked all of the episodes off of Hulu I doubt that the show will be coming back, which is a shame. Sure, there are a lot of cop/crime drama shows… Read more »
Bring Chase back……….GREAT show, put it in a good time slot and leave it. Who do thay ask about his to get their numbers. No one has ever asked me!!!
Well sure they take off all the tv shows that adults watch. All they want is your grandkids watching there tv shows and calling in to vote for there fav little bimbo.
What tv needs is more pathetic people trying to get ahead in life at someone elses expence.
Take this Harys law?? Getting a killer off of a murder rap because she was hungry, if she was so hungry that she had to rob at gunpoint, why didn’t she sell that $350.00 smith&wesson? Were not stupid. Just another liberal tv show to go with law and order
