After a season of mediocre ratings, NBC moved Chicago Fire to follow The Voice. As a result, the show was one of a few network series to go up in the ratings year-to-year. Will the numbers continue to climb? Will it be renewed for a fourth season or could it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
Chicago Fire follows the lives and work of the firefighters, rescue squad, and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51. The cast includes Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Charlie Barnett, Monica Raymund, Lauren German, Eamonn Walker, David Eigenberg, Joe Minso, Yuri Sardarov, and Christian Stolte.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
2/5 update: NBC has renewed Chicago Fire for a fourth season. Details here.
Final season averages: 1.82 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.42 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The second season of Chicago Fire averaged a 2.0 rating in the demo and 7.46 million viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Chicago Fire TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
I hope they keep Chicago fire seasons on tv
I want to see Chicago Fire renewed for Season 4…YES!!!
I enjoy shows like this and it is not a cop show (however, I love cop shows too) I really would enjoy it if SVU, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. would run all year round with only a very small break. These shows are interesting as well as clean entertainment. Each and every actor are a joy to watch. YES CONTINUE THEM ALL!!!!
Yes, Dick Wolf is a great screen writer, he has all his programs dialed in and it seems he has a good toe-hold with NBC. Hopefully, some programer at NBC gets his wires crossed and does something stupid like on other networks by cancelling a good show. Great job to CFD and CPD!
Sim all for another season of Chicago Fire especially after watching season 3 finale. I have to know what the outcome is. Been a fan since October 2012. Upset that shay is no longer with the show. Please don’t cancel
Don’t cancel Chicago Fire! Best TV show on. What a show
One of the best shows on tv.
Great show, good characters, Dick Wolfe knows his business. I really enjoyed Rescue Me, it really showed the darker side of the characters, more realistic…having been an Arson Investigator I enjoyed the crews perils, Chicago Fire is getting there. It shows a good balance of what also goes on with the individual’s personal lives, it’s a hard balancing act being knee deep in a quagmire then being home having a conversation with your spouse of what you experienced in your shift. You can’t explain it, until you’ve lived it…
I have been a big fan of Chicago Fire since it began on Oct. 10th 2012, I too would hate to see it be cancelled, I enjoy seeing it every week & have never missed an episode. I especially enjoy when they combine both Chicago Fire & Chicago PD for special episodes. I have watched Sophia Bush on Chicago PD grow up when she was Brooke Davis on One Tree Hill. I hope that we can all somehow save the show by keeping watching every week. I know it was sad when Shae died, believe it or not I did… Read more »
The show continues to amaze! Yes, Shay is gone. That fact remains, but the show has moved forward. New characters in; new positions for others. That’s what makes a show not get boring. Should get renewed.
killed off shay and killed their ratings
guess I was wrong. nice bump in ratings
Hello there. The Number of Viewers are wrong. It’s 9,14 Mio. not 9,4 Mio. The 9,4 Mio. are the fast ratings.
Thanks for catching that.
I love Chicago fire! Would hate for it to be canceled!
Vickie fully agree with you as well! Chicago Fire and Chicago PD are both two my own
favorite TV shows as well! So that makes them “Keepers” in my book!
I had to quit watching Chicago P.D.
The beating and torture of suspects at least every other episode became grotesque.
I agree, those are 2 of our favorite shows… hate to admit it but we have a LOT of favorite shows. I’ll miss Shay, too, but I read that she didn’t like Chicago so that probably had a lot to do with it.
Hey Tundrabeast Chicago Fire and Chicago PD are among my favorite TV shows too and
so did you notice the John Hancock skyscraper just up the street from CFD Station 51 as
well? In fact both Chicago Fire & Chicago PD, along with Blue Bloods and the cancelled Killer Women especially since I also come from family with a number of Fire Fighters and Police Officers in it. And so I really enjoy the way all of them present the jobs of our fire fighters and cops as well. Glad most of them were renewed.
I am upset that they killed off Shay. 🙁
One of my favorites. Glad to see it’s doing fairly well. It does seem though that all these shows have a lot of stiff competition because there’s not very big numbers for any of them. Anyway I like both this and the spin off Chicago Cop show. I like how both shows will blend from time to time with characters going back and forth between shows on certain stories. Plus I’m a trucker so going through Shy Town so much I’m at least familiar with some of the locations or streets they use……And yes it is shot in Chicago because… Read more »
