NBC can’t get enough of Chicago. Give Me My Remote reports the network has ordered additional episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD for the 2018-19 season.
Currently, Chicago Med is in its fourth season, Chicago Fire in its seventh, and Chicago PD in its sixth season. The procedurals hail from Law & Order executive producer Dick Wolf.
Reportedly, all three NBC series have been given two extra episodes for the 2018-19 season, bringing each season total to 22 episodes. Chicago PD director Eriq La Salle announced the news on social media:

I just love Chicago Med. It reminds me of ER. I so miss ER, that became the new standard set in the 90’s after St. Elsewhere which was the epitome of medical shows in the 80’s. I think ER could’ve kept going. It did evolve over its 15 year run. I have a thing for all the medical shows. Always have. Cut my teeth on Emergency! and M*A*S*H.
Wednesday night is Chicago night in my home. We love all three. The only one we agree on for 1st place is Chicago P.D. For second and third place we are divided. Congrats to all the cast members. They deserve it.

We loved each series. We liked our Wednesday night, that is Chicago night. We liked the whole actions in each series.

I believe you’re confusing Chicago Med with ER. Eriq LaSalle starred in ER but is not a star of Chicago Med. I believe he serves as producer/director on Chicago Med and Chicago PD.

I love all the Chicago’s and was so happy when they were all put on the same night. My favorite is Chicago PD though.
