After five seasons and narrowly escaping being cancelled several times, Chuck has come to an end. Tonight, NBC aired the final two episodes of the underdog TV series that got a true series finale — one that you’d hope that any beloved show could get.
As promised, the finale hearkened back to the early days of the series and provided more than a few references to the early episodes. Chuck was determined, in his old geeky way, to bring Sarah back to her senses. He did but she still didn’t have her memories.
A bomb that was attached to the General’s chair at the opera house would go off as soon as the musical performance (thanks to Jeffster and Morgan conducting) stopped. Given the choice to use Intersect himself to diffuse the bomb or use it to restore Sarah’s memories, Chuck of course makes the hero’s choice. He saves the day, at the cost of losing what he’d built with his true love.
For any longtime viewer, it would be tough to hold back tears as the trio disbanded, first Casey and then Sarah left Chuck standing alone.
Still, there were plenty of happy events. The Jeffster guys are offered a big record deal with a German music company. Subway (a longtime Chuck sponsor) buys out the Buy More. How fitting. Morgan moves in with Alex. Ellie and Captain Awesome move to Chicago to work at a hospital. Casey goes after Verbanski.
The series ends with Chuck finding Sarah on their beach, still confused. He tells her that he’ll always be there for her, whatever she does and wherever she goes. She responds by asking him to tell her a story. And he does, recounting the events and details of their time together over the last five years. They share a lot of laughter and tears.
Chuck then says, “Morgan, has this crazy idea… He thinks that with just one kiss, you’ll remember everything.” She asks, “One magical kiss?”
He says, “Yeah…” Sarah quickly responds, “Chuck… kiss me.” And he does, and they kiss over and over on the beach, as the camera pulls back and the scene fades to black. End of series.
What do you think? Were you satisfied by the Chuck series finale? Was there anything missing?

I think there should be a “real fan” DVD set that cuts the last few minutes out of the season 4 finale and never mentions season 5. I think Chuck had a superb cast and that the show was great in seasons 1 and 2, good in 3, OK in 4, but completely sucked in 5. Sure, with such a great cast even season 5 had some good moments, but I thought they were few and far between. It’s hard to comment on the finale without bashing more of season 5. I would rather have spent more time with the… Read more »
I just hope they come up with a movie that gives a perfect ending to this. It didn’t suck if you ask me but it could use a follow up thing….
I guess my favourite thing about this show was that it wasn’t afraid to give the audience what they wanted. They never stuffed around with trying to keep Chuck and Sarah at make up break up make up, once they got them together they kept them that way, and it was awesome to see a show do that! The nerd didn’t just get the girl, and them repeatedly loose her… he married her! There was gonna be a house, and a dog and a baby! The show jumped the shark by making it about Chuck AND Sarah the couple instead… Read more »
HEY MICHAEL GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS.I GUESS U WERENT A TRUE FAN OF THE SHOW IF YOU LIKED IT.
that ending sucked ass.was one of the worst series finales ever.josh schwartz and chris fedak should get there heads out of there asses and redo the series finale.i loved this show but u wasted 5 years of my life to deal with a suck full of dog sht ending.i am not the only one that thinks this way alot of chuck fans hated the ending.you were evening worse then the seinfield series finale.the only way u can give your fans a piece of mind is redo the series finally totally or make a movie or jump off a bridge and… Read more »
Reading all these comments I feel that people are somehow missing the point. Yes, we all love a happy ending with a sense of closure but an ending like this gives us more as fans. We get to feel closer to the characters we loved so much and we can imagine how things played out in the end. I for one am happy how it ended and in my head I am sure Chuck and Sarah end up with that white picket fence in the end. Overall at least it did not leave a lot of lingering questions or cut… Read more »
I was hoping for more, that is all I am saying.
Kind of a lady and the tiger BS ending! Wrap things up rather than leaving it as a matbe. As a loyal fan, I deserve more. Get more creative writers so you can keep a unique show on longer. Not quite a rape but fairly close!
dude not a cool way to end the series! I felt robbed not the way they should have ended it. Come on they need to have at least one more episode to make up for that crap.
Great series, sucks its over.
Got to say, I teared up a bit. Very well done, folks. Thanks for several great years and just in case you read this, Thanks for making my life better, because that IS in essence what a GREAT show is supposed to do, is to improve your quality of life. To entertain, to make one happier after than before. To grant an hour of being in a better place, so , Thanks.
Hmm well I was not ready for it to end but I suppose it had to 🙁 I think the thing that bothered me most was that Chuck got the intersect back and we can assume it was fixed as it looked like Nicholas Quinn had put the three pieces back together and placed on the side of the glasses while on the roof waiting for his extraction. Will Chuck start breaking down again or did they manage to remove the intersect for the last time or does he still have it in him? The way they ended it though… Read more »
I think the ending was good except like everyone else I would have like to have seen the Sarah/Chuck thing end better. The kiss bringing back the memories and the last scene with them in their house and her pregnant…like a flash forward scene after the kiss.
I think Chuck is gonna be another of those like Firefly, they take them off but people show that they had that special appeal and watch them for years to come.
Why don’t they take all these inane reality shows off instead and leave the feel-good, fun ones like these on.
I hate endings where the good guys end up losing something permanently as the cost of defeating the bad guys. I know it’s a big thing in Japan and other Far Eastern countries, but not here. There was no need for Sarah to permanently lose her memories like that – not to mention the fact that virtually NOTHING was made of the fact that Chuck ended up with the Intersect AGAIN – which was the entire reason for the START of the series. How could him getting it in the beginning be SOOOO important, and now he gets it again… Read more »
Wow, I was so sad…. I would love to see a movie were they all get back together for the birth of Chuck and Sarahs baby in the house they always wanted… It is not fair that the good guy did not get an absolute win!!!
Great finish to a (non-ironic) awesome series. I’ll miss Chuck immensely, its combination of plot, writing and actors will probably not be recreated for several years. Thank you Messrs. Fedak Schwarz, the writers, Yvonne and Zach, Alex, Josh, Sarah, Ryan and the whole cast and crew. You created something special and are to be commended. Now, where’s my movie/miniseries??? It’s been a great ride, thanks.
