After five seasons and narrowly escaping being cancelled several times, Chuck has come to an end. Tonight, NBC aired the final two episodes of the underdog TV series that got a true series finale — one that you’d hope that any beloved show could get.
As promised, the finale hearkened back to the early days of the series and provided more than a few references to the early episodes. Chuck was determined, in his old geeky way, to bring Sarah back to her senses. He did but she still didn’t have her memories.
A bomb that was attached to the General’s chair at the opera house would go off as soon as the musical performance (thanks to Jeffster and Morgan conducting) stopped. Given the choice to use Intersect himself to diffuse the bomb or use it to restore Sarah’s memories, Chuck of course makes the hero’s choice. He saves the day, at the cost of losing what he’d built with his true love.
For any longtime viewer, it would be tough to hold back tears as the trio disbanded, first Casey and then Sarah left Chuck standing alone.
Still, there were plenty of happy events. The Jeffster guys are offered a big record deal with a German music company. Subway (a longtime Chuck sponsor) buys out the Buy More. How fitting. Morgan moves in with Alex. Ellie and Captain Awesome move to Chicago to work at a hospital. Casey goes after Verbanski.
The series ends with Chuck finding Sarah on their beach, still confused. He tells her that he’ll always be there for her, whatever she does and wherever she goes. She responds by asking him to tell her a story. And he does, recounting the events and details of their time together over the last five years. They share a lot of laughter and tears.
Chuck then says, “Morgan, has this crazy idea… He thinks that with just one kiss, you’ll remember everything.” She asks, “One magical kiss?”
He says, “Yeah…” Sarah quickly responds, “Chuck… kiss me.” And he does, and they kiss over and over on the beach, as the camera pulls back and the scene fades to black. End of series.
What do you think? Were you satisfied by the Chuck series finale? Was there anything missing?

Thank you to the producers and writers of NBC for making this great TV show. Love each every episode from beginning to end. Thank you to all actors, casts and behind the scene workers for making a wonderful show.
Love the Show! Don’t know why NBC keeps canceling the shows I enjoy, Heros, OUTSOUCED ( Was Awesome!!!) and now Chuck! Hate their Thursday night line up. Chuck will be missed and DVR will be empty.
Absolutely love the TV show. Love Chuck, Ellie, Awesome, Big Mike, Jeffster!!!!!
I loved Jeffster performing at the concert hall WITH ON ORCHESTRA, while a bomb is being defused. Brilliant!

I hate the reason why they decided to say this would be the last season. (Production companies are idiots.) Screw them, let’s sign a petition anyway!!!
I have loved Chuck from the beginning. At first I watched it for two reasons: Bonita Friedericy, wife of John Billingsley (Dr. Phlox from Enterprise) who played General Beckman, and Adam Baldwin (Jayne from Firefly/Serenity) who played John Casey. But then the storylines, the great action, and comedic moments made every episode a joy to watch. Bonnie and Adam rocked the entire way. My favorite line from Bonnie was “Duck!” and I loved Casey’s growls. But all of the other actors grew on me too. Chuck and Sara, two star-crossed lovers: I cried at the end of the series. It… Read more »
@bruce: Yeah, that part was *really* bad. But it got good after the third episode (I think) when Morgan lost it. It was a good ending, I think. They missed addressing the fact that Chuck now has the intersect again, but they gave all of the major/minor character’s their own little (or large) reward. The Jeffster record deal was a bit odd, but whatever. It didn’t bring me to tears, even a little. I did give a little smile through most of the ending, though. It was more of a “they’re moving on” ending rather than an “it’s over” ending,… Read more »
I thought it was awful. What was up with those writers? Couldn’t believe they would end it like that, guess they ran out of ideas.
I loved “Chuck” and the actors–especially Zachary and Yvonne–are wonderful. However. The entire series was based on the relationship between Chuck and Sarah, their chemistry, their story. For the writers to take that away at the very end makes me feel as if I was robbed of the promised happy ending. No house. No baby. No memories even. Unfair. Chuck has always been dedicated to his family and for his sister’s family to move thousands of miles away ignores that history. (It would’ve been easy to write that Awesome and Ellie got great jobs at a hospital in California, not… Read more »
Perfect ending!
I thought Sara should have flashed when Chuck kissed her and she would have gotten her memories back – that would have been more in keeping with the intersect thing. Also I really wanted a happy ever after ending for sure – not any maybe.
I agree, that is exactly what I wanted to see – the kiss being truly magical, and all of her memories would come flooding back into her head! When they left it as a question, I was heartbroken! I was, literally in tears, thinking that no matter how they started over, they could never recreate the situations they were in and the choices they made! She wasn’t even the same girl she was before! The bond would never be as strong! I really needed a bit more closure, just too sad!
To try to bring chuck back go sign this petition. Once it reaches 1,000,000 signatures it will be shown to NBC so hurry sign it fast!!!

Ugh – so disappointing! Like everyone else, I wanted to see Chuck and Sarah end up happy. I wanted to see everyone end up happy. I do think they left it open, clearly, for an online movie follow up. Perhaps a different network will pick up the show as well – they should.
Great show – total chemistry with the entire cast – they should keep this going somehow, someway.
I don’t think it was a bad ending at all. I’m not sure I know what a “Hollywood” ending is anymore, but circling back to the beginning is not a bad way to end this. Remember the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy? That got worse and worse, jumping bigger and bigger sharks, but then, in a stroke of genius, right at the end, they dropped us pretty much right back at the beginning of the story arc. Poetic, and perfect. Does anyone doubt that Chuck will make Sarah fall in love again? No. Does anyone doubt that Sarah’s old memories… Read more »
Love the show. Not sure why NBC would cancel it. Bring it back.
Didn’t watch it, don’t care. I got tired of it about a year ago. When Morgan got the intesect, etc, that was enough for me.
Oh dude, it got so much better. You missed a lot.
Blasphemy! Not really, to each his own but this is really more of a forum for thoughts on the series finale, not the end season 4.
It was too much to pack in 2 hours. I started watching Chuck from the beginning and yes everything came full circle, but even though we were meant to figure it out for ourselves what Chuck and Sarah would be from that point on, it was incredibly sad not to see at least a small glimpse of all these years of waiting for Chuck and Sarah’s “Happily Ever After”. The show was set around their romance and to leave it as… ‘these are not the droids you’re looking for’ made it a 7 from what could have been a fantastic… Read more »
Agreed with Paul and TxTraveler.
This ending was simply bad. Watching it I felt like I was watching the endings to Most Japanese Anime series I’ve seen in the past 5 series. (Memory Loss ending, Life goes on with people walking in different directions, Bitter-sweetness to the left and to the right, the antagonist gets killed really quickly in the episode with little struggle, etc)
I was actually going to buy the Chuck boxsets, all of them, not anymore though simply because this trash ruined 5 years of my life.
