After five seasons and narrowly escaping being cancelled several times, Chuck has come to an end. Tonight, NBC aired the final two episodes of the underdog TV series that got a true series finale — one that you’d hope that any beloved show could get.
As promised, the finale hearkened back to the early days of the series and provided more than a few references to the early episodes. Chuck was determined, in his old geeky way, to bring Sarah back to her senses. He did but she still didn’t have her memories.
A bomb that was attached to the General’s chair at the opera house would go off as soon as the musical performance (thanks to Jeffster and Morgan conducting) stopped. Given the choice to use Intersect himself to diffuse the bomb or use it to restore Sarah’s memories, Chuck of course makes the hero’s choice. He saves the day, at the cost of losing what he’d built with his true love.
For any longtime viewer, it would be tough to hold back tears as the trio disbanded, first Casey and then Sarah left Chuck standing alone.
Still, there were plenty of happy events. The Jeffster guys are offered a big record deal with a German music company. Subway (a longtime Chuck sponsor) buys out the Buy More. How fitting. Morgan moves in with Alex. Ellie and Captain Awesome move to Chicago to work at a hospital. Casey goes after Verbanski.
The series ends with Chuck finding Sarah on their beach, still confused. He tells her that he’ll always be there for her, whatever she does and wherever she goes. She responds by asking him to tell her a story. And he does, recounting the events and details of their time together over the last five years. They share a lot of laughter and tears.
Chuck then says, “Morgan, has this crazy idea… He thinks that with just one kiss, you’ll remember everything.” She asks, “One magical kiss?”
He says, “Yeah…” Sarah quickly responds, “Chuck… kiss me.” And he does, and they kiss over and over on the beach, as the camera pulls back and the scene fades to black. End of series.
What do you think? Were you satisfied by the Chuck series finale? Was there anything missing?

I fail to see how this ending is great. Chuck for me was always about the perfect combination of humor, action and drama. Again, like in season three, drama had the upper hand. Again a reset to the Chuck and Sarah relationship. When I see people praising this ending I feel like I’ve been watching an entirely different show. It’s a complete mystery to me how anyone can find this gratifying, but to each his own of course.
Its a good ending….feel kinda a sad though chuck series has ended…gonna miss watching it.
My wife and I are great fans of Chuck. Both of us are sorry the series has ended, and wish a good show like this could have been kept on the air for awhile longer. There is so much crap out there and this was a refreshing, entertaining, and smartly done series. I hope to see the members of the cast in some other shows. It would be great for one of them to cameo on White Collar aside Bryce Larkin a.k.a. Neil Kaffrey.
I though the way they brought it back full circle with Chuck having the intersect and starting to win Sarah’s love all over again was a really good way to end the series….
I really feel cheated for spending five years of my life being devoted to this show. The whole plot in a whole is based on Chuck AND Sarah’s relationship. For it to just end like it did is the worst thing you can do to us devoted Chuck fans. I can safely say after reading every comment before mine that we all wanted a happy ending with the house with the red door and white picket fence with a family. I really hope that these comments get read by the cast and crew and that they can be convinced to… Read more »
I thought the end was amazing even tho i really wanted sarah to get her memories back. I was still happy with the ending and how even tho she at the start of the episode sarah did not love chuck by the end she had fallen in love with him all over again! 🙂 I thought the end to the episode was great with there kiss!! RIP chuck!! 🙁
I thought the series finale was okay, can never get enough of Sarah walking on the beach in a soaking wet leather suit. For those who don’t think they tied up lose ends on the show, I think the writer deliberately left some questions unanswered, maybe one the cable channels or major networks will pick up the show. It has been done before. But if that ever did happen, I hope they would have the good sense to bring everyone back !!! The chemistry of the actors was second to none.
I had the privelege of previewing Chuck long before it came out while in Las Vegas and loved it from day one. Yes there were episodes of where are they headed with this but enjoyed it till the last scene. I wished Sarah would have got her memory back and that they would end up in Sarah’s dream home with them expecting one on the way, the phone ringing and Chuck answering it with his dad’s voice saying we have to talk , do you know where Casey is and Chuck saying, “Oh Boy and yelling Sarah” but will leave… Read more »
A “Chuck vs. The Epilogue” straight-to-DVD movie would be nice to clean up this mess but I seriously doubt there will be anything more to the Chuck storyline. Maybe a comic book run will try to clean things up.
For Chuck, the series ended very much like it started. Intersect in head, and in love with a girl who didn’t have feelings for him. I thought it was a good way to end the series, a little unexpected. The show wasn’t the greatest but had its moments in the early days. I’m glad the writers there given the chance to end it properly.
I thought Chuck’s father weren’t dad after Shaw’s infiltrated agent laughed after heared that Chuck’s father dead.
-1 for the ending. Really stole my mood.
It was a very good episode. It needed a few things more. Although if they are thinking of a 2 hr tv movie next year, I can wait. I don’t think his dad is dead. I think that the General is going to call on them in the future. I think that Awesome and Ellie combined, will be able to make changes / fixes to the Supersect. And I think that is where Dad returns. I can think of a few movies that can be done easily. and hey with all the commercials shown, it is really a really long… Read more »
I think the end was very weak to complete the series. They should have be able to get what they set out for. Their home happy life and family, I give it about a 3 for a series finish.
Going to miss Chuck, was definately one of my favorite shows. Yes, it did get crazy stupid at times (Morgan with intersect probably number one thing that threw me off) but, never stopped watching the show. Chuck, Sarah and Casey were of course a great and enjoyable team but the rest of the filled in the rest of the show great especially Ellie.
bring it back you cant do that to the views it has :/
