In its freshman installment, the Code Black TV show earned low ratings for a CBS TV series. Instead of cancelling though, the network renewed it, with the requisite cast changes. Its numbers fell further last year, but it still wasn’t cancelled, probably thanks to licensing deal concessions. Will the third season see the audience grow or further diminish, and if so, how low can it go? Will Code Black be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. **Status update below
A CBS medical drama, Code Black stars Marcia Gay Harden, Luis Guzmán, Rob Lowe, Boris Kodjoe, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, William Allen Young, Emily Tyra, Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Alyn Lind, and Moon Bloodgood. The story unfolds at Angels Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles — the busiest, most notorious ER in the country. The high patient volume dwarfs the resources available to the exceptional staff — creating a condition known as Code Black. .
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
7/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.

For comparisons: The second season of Code Black averaged a 0.97 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.984 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Code Black TV series? Should this CBS TV show have been cancelled or renewed for season four?

we really like this show…and the cast..why do you have to cancel it?? there is nothing good to watch on Tuesdays on any channel..why not put it on Tuesdays?!!! we always record it if we are not home!!
We love this show! Even my husband who is non-medical. I hope they will reconsider. It’s the one show I watch On Demand if I miss it on Wednesday. I am heartbroken
excellent show, keep it
I loved this show. It was the real deal of medical dramas on TV. I’ve been an RN for 50 years. I’ve seen a few things. I was hooked from day 1. Finally a medical drama that depicts it like it really is. That said….however, I was discouraged by the change in story lines in season 3. Although Rob Lowe did a great job I felt the focus became less about the ER and more about him and his relationships. That’s when I began to lose interest. I wanted to keep the focus in the ER with the main characters.… Read more »
You must be crazy to cancel this show! Finally a show that is intelligent, well-written with flawed yet believable characters. Acting and actors are superb, delivering stellar performances. Please reconsider!
ARE YOU SERIOUS! One of the best ER shows since ER( real show from the past),with water eyes situations, lessons, and a great cast and your cancelling it. I pray to God someone else picks it up. And CBS keeps other garbage shows. #BRINGBACKCODEBLACK!!!!!!
Dont cancel! Love this show!!
Please don’t cancel this serietv there are some others worst
I highly agree with the other comments that it is hard to believe that Code Black was chosen to be cancelled. We truly enjoyed this drama. Please reconsider CBS.
I CANNOT BELIEVE you’re taking this off the air!! This is the first somewhat original series I’ve seen in YEARS!! It’s not the same old same old that gets shown all the time. All the crappy reality shows put out for millennials but this one gets cancelled?!! What is wrong with you? There are other people who watch TV too you know! We get sick of the same old cop shows and reality tv. Shame on you! What about us??
I can’t believe that you want to take Code Black off the air. This is one of the best medical shows that I like. Why is it that the reality shows stay on and the shows that have any interest are dropped within the 2st or 3nd season
It’s hard to believe that a brilliant series like Code Black can be so easily cancelled when there’s so many crap shows being left to watch. This series to me gives those other medical shows a run for their money. Before canceling Code Black, did anybody THINK of the damage done by bringing it in so late in the season? Each week the stories are different and interesting. Come on you guys. This show is one of the best ones out there. PLEASE do not cancel it. PLEASE!!!!!
I am so sorry to hear that Code Black has been cancelled! I think it is one of the best medical shows on TV right now! The characters is so diverse, and actors do an amazing job bringing them to life for us each week . The hour long show is so fast paced it seems to be over way too soon, leaving the audience waiting in anticipation for the next episode. I am hoping that the network will reconsider the cancelling of this show and give it another chance. Or maybe another network will pick it up and give… Read more »
I cannot believe that CBS is canceling Code Black—such a great medical drama with complex characters and story lines. One of the best shows that CBS has had in years. I personally think the demographic measures for this show (18-49) is not a good measure of who is watching the show—this is not a show that 18 year olds are going to watch. I am 56, but my age group isn’t even surveyed for this show—and I never miss Code Black. CBS: rethink your survey strategy of demographics; renew Code Black.
Please reconsider cancelling Code Black!!!!!! It’s a wonderful show!!!!!!!!
