The struggle (and story) of the Bowman family ends tonight. The Colony TV show has been cancelled after three seasons but, would you have watched more episodes and a fourth season? Should it have been dropped?
A USA Network sci-fi drama, Colony stars Josh Holloway, Sarah Wayne Callies, Tory Kittles, Peter Jacobson, and Alex Neustaedter. The story unfolds in the near-future, in a world where citizens are under military occupation by the Colony Transitional Authority, as part of a large extraterrestrial invasion. Former FBI agent Will Bowman (Holloway) and wife Katie (Callies) were raising their daughter and two sons in Los Angeles, but were separated from the younger boy during the invasion and did everything they could to get him back. The third season kicked off six months after the season two finale, with Will and Katie rebuilding their family in the world beyond the walls. They begin a journey during which they uncover the truth behind the occupation. Once again, this family finds themselves having to choose sides.
The show debuted in January 2016 and got off to a positive start with a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.36 million viewers. The series lost some steam over the course of the season. The first year averaged a 0.38 rating with 1.13 million and it was renewed for a second season.
Season two of Colony launched in January 2017 and the 13 episodes ended up averaging a 0.26 demo rating with 814,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that was down by 31% in the demo and 28% in viewership. Still, Colony was renewed for a third year even before the season two finale aired.
USA didn’t start running season three until May 2018. Thus far, the third season has averaged a 0.17 demo rating with 672,000 viewers. Compared to last year, that’s down by 36% and 18%, respectively.
Colony is currently one of USA Network’s lower-rated scripted series but, other shows aren’t doing that much better. While it’s not a complete surprise that USA cancelled Colony, they could have easily renewed it to wrap up the story with a final season. Unfortunately, they opted to end the series after three seasons and 36 episodes.

What a crappy way to end a story! They really left us all hanging. I don’t know why they start stories and end them like this was! At least give us some closure by ending it not on a cliff hanger. All the networks that do this should be boycotted. It shows they don’t have any regard for their patrons.
They should bring it back for the final season. Love the show! USA bring it back on for the final season
Colony really was getting more interesting. The show had NOT jumped the shark. You can’t convince me that they couldn’t have reshot the ending scene to at least give the series closure. Instead, they gave us a dramatic final episode cliffhanger. I was shocked to learn it was a Series Finale instead of a Season Finale. So disappointed!!!
Great show. Should not have been canceled
We’ve been watching to find out the expected release date for Season 4 of Colony. We are so disappointed to learn it is being cancelled. Love the show. Love the cast. Why???? Colony is fun to watch and full of surprises. Never a dull moment. Hope another network will pick it up.
I totally agree with the Gayle’s comments. I think Colony is an excellent show. One of the best. I hope Amazon will pick it up like they did with SyFy’s “The Expanse”.
Stupid to dump a show that’s together seasons. It needs to be finished. Needs season four.

I am done with any new TV shows on USA, I will not waist my time! I will wait till till they have been on for at least 4 or 5 seasons then catch it on Netflix. Complete waist of time to watch a show and have it cancelled without giving it a proper ending!
Just googled to find out if there would be Season 4 Uggggggggggg How could they leave us all hanging with soooooo many Questions !!!!!!! Of Course All Of Colony Followers/Supporters Of The Show Would Watch Season 4 !!!!!!! Now Do Something To Make It Happen

This was by far the best season yet and we would have watched another season. Please return it for a final season

Season 3 was what 2 should have been. While there was a so-called ending, I hope there’s an opportunity for a continuation!
I love this show! I can’t imagine how they will wrap up this series in a decent way with only one show left. One more season, please!! Give these actors a chance to tie their story lines up satisfactorily and give the viewers an opportunity to see the aliens. This makes me think twice about starting other series on USA.
If network television continues to put out serial programming on which I spend my time watching, only to constantly have them leave me hanging without resolution to the hours I’ve invested, I am about ready to give up on these networks all together. I will only watch shows that I know have come to a logical end and will stream them from the many services available after they have ended. Enough is enough. Start respecting your viewers who, along with friends and family, dedicate hours of their lives to what amounts to your pointless drivel.
