After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.

When I first started watching it I was not impressed. However, as time went along I really got into it and hate that it got canceled. Another one of my favorite shows is now canceled. They should start canceling some of the stupid sitcoms.

Can you please stop dragging viewers into the bedroom on any TV series? You set it up to focus more on bedroom than actual story…I’m sick of it. I Refuse to watch TV series which think I’m a peeping tom??? I also stopped going to movies years ago because of the same ole sex trash. Problem solving & good story line with positive character building is what America needs.

atleast do all the viewers a favour and put horatio caine in csi new york along with some of his co workers would make viewers happier and new york better, although use made a big mistake on cancelling it anyway worst thing iv ever seen.
they could atleast put on a special episode with horatiio getting with somebody or dieing and meeting marisol and being happy they should film a special episode CSI: Miami <3 will never be forgotton, and horatio caine and the team wont be either, bad decision, sooner you realise the better because cbs you will be gutted when your viewers drop isuggest you change it for the best of the world and tv! 😀 please!

I am so annoyed that this has ended this was my favorite CSI i loved it i have them all on dvd every episode and just watched the end of season 10 and not happy i want to see what happens because they still have things to finish off that gang that i cant remember the name of im only 15 and cant get enough of the franchise and hope it does continue but for now im going to watch them all over again from the being, i just have to ;). or actually might watch csi new york from… Read more »
