After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that CSI: Miami has been cancelled? Will you miss the show? Was it time for it end or would you have liked to have seen an 11th season?

Keep csi Miami and not new york
They should have kept CSI : Miami on for another season and cancelled CSI : New York. I’m SO bummed!!
I’m too, Linda…..It’s terrible! 🙁

I would have like to seen a season 11. This makes my mind up and stop watching all the CSI show all together, to spare me the disappoint.
CBS made a very good decision keeping CSI: NY and letting CSI: Miami go. Now, they just need to transfer Calleigh Duquesne (Emily Procter) to Vegas or NYC.
Sad that they have to cancel it, i loved this most out of the CSI franchise. If they did renew the season that would be awesome! I will miss the CSI: Miami cast.
Sad they have to cancel it, I loved this way more than CSI and CSI NY. It would be nice if they renew this in the future! I would so watch it!
Its so sad after you watch a show for so long and it just goes off the air. I loved this show and the chaacters. It was a great show to watch and I hope it comes back some day soon. Listen to your people who watch your t.v. stations its shows like this that keep us coming to the local networks.
I can’t believe they even thought about removing the show. CSI:Miami has been the only show that I watch on CBS and not only is the show wonderful but so Is the cast. CBS please rethink your decision and return the show to its loyal fans. We’ll be really disappointed if its really gone for good.
Keep CSI Miami I like Heratio and the rest of the cast. I can’t believe CBS would cancel this show. There are plenty of topics they could write about. Just take the topices from the news headlines. If this is the end you have wasted a good cast of characters.
I am just sick about A Gifted Man and CSI: Miami. Have you lost your minds. That is 2 of my favorite shows. If I didnt like CSI: NY so much being that I am from the same hometown as Sela Ward I would BOYCOT your channel. I have watched both shows for every season they were on and loved everyminute of it. David Caruso and Patrick Wilson both are great. CBS Im like K. Morland. You will regret this. Rethink your decision. CSI: Miami needs a better time slot. I stayed hime on Fridays nights just to watch A… Read more »
David Caruso as a talent actor? Not! I am not sorry to see CSI Miami go! I am happy that CBS have decided to renew CSI NY!!
Yes, Caruso’s acting entailed removing and putting on his sunglasses and having his hands on his hips. I won’t miss the incredible (i.e. NOT credible) plots and Booby Vista’s false accusations and jumping to ridiculous conclusions.
I will truly miss CSI Miami. I know that no one else in my household will watch the other CSIs shows…..especially NY. I am so deeply disappointed . This is why more and more people are watching other..newer..better channels than the main original channels.Thank goodness the other channels are bringing back favorites like Dallas, the Glades , Burn Notice, and Covert Affairs.
You really should talk to your viewing audience occasionally, a good nationwide survey before cancelling good shows.
CBS ….I really think you will regret this decision.
Yup i think they need to fire the person who says to remove a show, they have axed to many good shows in the last 5 years, and replaced it with Utter CRAP… i would have hoped to removed NY before Miami..
I love all the CSI’s. But I knew CSI: Miami was going after this season when they moved it to Sunday. I for one, was constantly missing the ending and had to watch online. Sucks, but all good things must come to an end. Out of all the CSI’s, I liked Miami and NY. Las Vegas just does nothing for me. Goodnight Horation, it was a good run 🙂
