After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that CSI: Miami has been cancelled? Will you miss the show? Was it time for it end or would you have liked to have seen an 11th season?

This was absolutely what I waited for all week long when it comes to shows on CBS. It seems to me that the executives who own CBS have completely lost any level of connection or commitment to their audience. Once upon a time not that long ago the leadership/owners/president/CEO of this network put on shows like this one and really cared not only about the content of their broadcast but took pride in having a connection to their viewers. Now, who knows maybe the Chinese own CBS like everything else coming to the consumer now days. Columbia Broadcasting System once… Read more »
This totally sucks! I absolutely LOVED CSI: Miami, and I was really looking forward to the next season this fall. I can’t believe CBS would do this to the fans of the snow. So it runs in syndication. So what? We all wanted new episodes to see and drool over. Now there never will be. Congrats on ruining my Sunday night, CBS! X(
Really going to miss CSI Miami. I really liked David Caruso. He really made this show. For me, he wasn’t in it as much as I would have liked, but when he was, he got my attention. I really liked his character and he kept it real. Maybe they could end the show with a movie. Wouldn’t that be great. Another season would have been better. When he was on Sunday, he ruled for me. Going to miss you CSI Miami !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yep.u suck cbs..yep real name…csi mami cancled..really?..best show u got…csi ny ..sucks…and a guy that talks to dogs..really…i hope every new show u put out there tanks…u have taught me never to be loyal to a show ever again or any network..so thanks for that………….
Cancel all the reality shows and keep CSI Miami. Best show ever!
I have to agree– LEave the CSI series alone! Dump the reality show stuff!
Sad to see CSI Miami go always getting rid of the good shows to keep the crap shows… should have gotten rid of some of those stupid reality shows instead!!!
keep csi miami and csi ny. cancel dogs in the city and big brother , and survivor and also cancel amazing race
You bet I am upset! You cancel all the good shows and add reality shows…Cancel them!
Keep all the CSI shows!!!
i’m sad to see it go, they should have one more season and make it the final season with a series finale.
You are right !!!!! CBS could have at lease give CSI Miami a last season. I am hut that they put the show on Sunday night, a bad time because of the football games that run over and take over CSI Miami’s spot. CBS also did this to Cold Case. CBS put Cold Case on Sunday night and the football games took it’s spot also and CBS took Cold Case off the air !!!!!
Sad to see CSI Miami go. Wanted to hear more about Horatio’s New York difficulties and what really connected him to Walter Reston’s life similarity. Sorry they didn’t choosr CSI NY to cancel especially after twice almost killing Mack off.
Здравейте,Хорейшио заедно с целия му екип ще ми липсва страшно много и искам да има и следващи сезони.Благодаря на всички за удоволствието,което ни предоставихте през всичките тези години.Ще ни липсвате!
oh no ……………. no more csi miami……………. super sad……
bring it back
i miss them
I hate the way it was left. I watched all of the CSI shows since the begining and I agree you always had to tape the news to catch all of the show. It justs stinks that we were left without any closure. Can’t they bring it back as a season filler to end the show completely. And please don’t pull a Sopranos.
I am so bummed! One of the main reasons that you lost viewers is because you never knew when it was coming on. It was constantly late! I would record it and if I didn’t remember to record the news, I would have to watch it on the internet! Take off some of the other stupid shows and move CSI Miami to a better time slot!
