We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

This show is a great show. Although I like and watch some of the reality shows, I love CSI NY more and make sure I don’t miss an episode of it. I was really upset when they took off CSI Miami. And they are considering taking off CSI NY!!! How about taking off some of those STUPID reality shows and also the “Comedies” that they are coming up with and leaving our good shows on! Brenda was right on the head when she said what about us older viewers (over 49). Don’t we count?
I love CSI NY, and am a faithful fan of the show. I realize that all TV shows have a certain time frame, but, this is a great show, great cast, and great stories. I have wondered if Gary Sinese may want to return to doing films. He’s a really good actor, and has played diverse characters. i would love to see him and Tom Hanks team up again.
With all the crap they are putting on the tv now, it will be a shame if something that people enjoy is cancelled. The only thing the networks are concerned with is making something cheap as proved by all the so called “reality shows”. What a laugh, they are about as real as the tooth fairy.
I love CSI NY, and NCIS. Please leave something on TV besides “reality” shows!!!
No,Love the show!! The good shows are always canceled!! It cost so much for cable and there is nothing good on!!
Because this is such an intellectual and the cast
members are so great and do not overkill their roles
the popularity declined??? They go for honey booboo
And bubba so I am no longer surprised by America!!!
I love CNS and a lot of these type of scripted shows
I hope they have better senses keeping these show
have been watching this forever the replacement shows are boring. please re-instate CSI
NY ASAP thanks
Get rid of some of these Stupid reality shows and keep CSI NEW YORK You already got rid of CSI MIAMI and that was a good show and should have stayed. The reason you get poor ratings is because all the good shows are on the same night and other nights have nothing on
Don’t get rid of CSI: NY; you already got rid of one of my favorites, CSI: Miami (loved that show and Adam Rodriguez), now this one? Common!
If you are considering canceling one of the CSIs…please do NOT make it New York! After reading the article, have you ever considered one of the reasons for fewer watchers, is that the program keeps getting moved, and then conveniently never tell anyone where the program has disappeared to? Do viewers over 49 not count? What an insult! Who is doing your studies? People under 49? Any parent 49 and younger who has a child/children, is probably busy on Friday nights. (Sport activities for example). Young people attend sport/school activities , go out with friends on Friday nights…they do not… Read more »
I think CSI New York is a great show much better than some other programs that are on T V.
I do enjoy this show and would hate to see it cancelled. In my opinion, there are so many Reality shows that are a waste of time, they should be cancelled. Although, the format and storyline of CSI NewYork could use some jazzing up it remains a good show.
I been with CSI NY from day one Mac Taylor is the man!!! Please im begging you dont cancel the show.
