This will be the first full season of Dallas without Larry Hagman’s JR Ewing. Can the cast and producers continue to draw viewers and solid ratings without their quintessential bad guy? Will the new Dallas be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned to find out.
Airing on Monday nights, Dallas continues to follow the machinations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.92 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Reference point: The second season of the new Dallas averaged a 0.8 demo rating and 2.67 million viewers.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you still like the Dallas series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Update: TNT has cancelled Dallas after three seasons. Details here.
It would be so great to see Dallas back on tv…in any form. Dallas is still far superior to anything since.
I hope the Dallas production machine is still being oiled. I would love to see a Dallas episode again in some form. A movie would be great. It’s been far too long since I’ve had a Dallas fix. I wish these network executives would come to their senses. They’re really missing the boat ( or for them, ah hem, the buck). Let’s have a Dallas show…anything…please.
Since Dallas has been cancelled, there isn’t much to watch anymore. Time to reevaluate my tv subscription.
This is supposed to be the time of the year when the best stuff on tv is presented. What do you see? I see nothing that endears me to paying a huge tv subscription fee. These short (and I mean short!) series on premium TV and others just are’t cutting it. I can see why most people, like me, are considering rolling back on these fees because “there’s nothing on!”. Why pay for this and not even get Dallas to watch?
Could really enjoy an hour watching Dallas. Great tv. Miss that.
The networks are playing a balancing act. They’re trying to see how many commercials they can cram in before we gag. Well, we’re gagging. These gagging commercials are ruining even the good shows that are left. Premium channels aren’t filling the gap because they only put out about 7 or 8 episodes a season (seems like). Hardly worth the extra bucks. Must we put up with this plus losing Dallas?
Could any of the shows on tv today really compete with Dallas? It makes me laugh to think about it. What a joke the lot is that’s playing…sometimes playing. How many episodes do they make a year for tv? How many commercials per show? So why was Dallas was cancelled? Dallas was the only good show. Very bad programming. They’ve gone over the line of reason…there’s just greed now.
Glitterville is full of un-American actors. What the heck do they know about anything? They just read lines and play act. The actors from Dallas were always cool and had class. I miss Dallas. I wish it would return.
I can see how the Millennium minds work at the networks. Let’s trigger these people who have no jobs, live in their parents basement and abuse intoxicants.
Gee, they must be the ones who buy all these stupid things that’s advertised in the many, many commercials. Yeah, that’s it…that’s the ticket. Well, networks… you’re so wrong. Bring back Dallas.
Any night would be a good night for Dallas. They even owned Friday nights back in the 70’s. A night where a lot of people aren’t home. Dallas could do well at 3am IMO. But network and ad people (one in the same) just don’t get it.
My guess is that the network people are wired much differently than tv viewers. They only think of more commercials and more money. It’s the same with most politicians…they just want more taxes and control. Who pays for this? We do!
In a perfect world we would only pay for what we want and not have Family Feud and the Jerk Theory rammed down our throats. Now Dallas…I’d pay for that.
Dallas would rake in the ratings it were to return. There’s nothing even close now to compete with it. But of course the network people, as cuckoo as they are, don’t know that.
If they think these reality, adolescent and game shows are what people want to watch, the networks must be insane. They might be good to keep an infant quiet in a crib or something in the way of just background noise…but that’s it. Please bring back Dallas.
There are people and groups in America that just don’t get it. A deficiency of the mind maybe. What ever it is the people running our tv networks must be among them. What kind of crazy person or persons would cancel a show like Dallas? That was awful. Now tv has turned to complete mush.
TV today is not what it used to be. The shows are so dimwitted and predictable. Just give us Dallas back and we’d be happy. We don’t ask for much. Just bring back a show like no other…one with class… Dallas.
