After two seasons on the air, TNT has cancelled Dark Blue. No season three for Carter Shaw and his LAPD team.
Dark Blue stars Dylan McDermott as the leader of an undercover unit whose members are so covert that some of the members of the department don’t even know they’re involved. The rest of the cast includes Omari Hardwick, Logan Marshall-Green, Nicki Aycox, and Tricia Helfer.
The cancellation of the cop drama doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Despite a decline in ratings, the series was renewed for a second season last December. The second round of 10 episodes began airing in August and the numbers were worse than they’d been in year one.
Season two averaged a 0.6 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and 2.25 million total viewers. Those figures make the series the worst performer of TNT’s summer season and ripe for cancellation.
Dark Blue ended its run with two episodes on September 15th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that the TV show has been cancelled? How would you have ended the series?

I can’t believe this was cancelled great show, I watched it every week! LOVED IT!
I am disappointed to learn that the show was canceled. As a critic, I believe season one was better than season two because Dylan McDermott’s character wasn’t the type of cop too hook up with a woman; adding the female lead took away from the believablity of the character. However, it was still one of the best shows out there and I am not happy to hear of its cancellation…I was watching for the “new winter season” all month. A mistake in my opinion.
I’ve completely lost faith in how Americans watch TV…So many great shows have been canceled this past year: Lone Star, Terriers, Rubicon, and NOW DARK BLUE?? I seriously can’t take it anymore. Pretty soon, all that will be on TV is crappy reality shows, CSI, NCIS, and Law And Order. Don’t forget to throw in the stupid “odd ball couple” series or the “goofy family” series. People don’t want to have to follow a year long storyline or watch anything that might hinge on more than one emotion. Apparently, the new FX Series Lights Out is near cancellation too. It’s… Read more »
Maybe it and some of the other shows would do better it they weren’t on TNT and A&E – or advertize ont he basic cable channels. What a shame – that was a great show, but so was The Cleaner and it didn’t last either!
Are you freaking kidding me? I show is the best on TNT. very sad it was canceled
I am totally blown…I agree with everyone here why do they cancel ALL the good shows, I just learned another one of my show THE GATES was also canceled. Why can’t they end them without leaving us audience in the air, it sucks. Dark Blue was a really got show and it will be sadly missed!!!
Why every good show gets cancelled its one of Te best shows ever
what a shame! This was a excellent show. Who are the airheads providing the low ratings? Not everyone gets off on Family Guy or 3rd Rock…ugh
Dylan McDermott is a wonderful actor. Who makes these decisions? Wouldn’t it make more sense to give the series enough notice to prepare a feasible ending instead of leaving the viewers in limbo. You have done that with so many shows.
I’m sure Dylan deserves to work on a station with more professional executives and ones that actually have their viewers wants and needs in mind.
i’m so upset what a waste of time and now it’s cancelled i loved adored and faithfully watch i will boycott this station
I think They should bring this show back! Best performance by Dylan McDermott and great cast! Bring this show back!
I really enjoyed Dark Blue and all of the characters, especially Dylan McDermott. I wish that a third season could be ordered by TNT. It’s a shame that such a good show has ended.
Why does every good show get cancelled??? And why am I always last to know…
good show….so sad…
that really blows balls that this show had too come to a and that really sucks i really wish it would come back
I am really taken by surprise. This was really a great show.
I also like McDermott; he’s had some bad breaks since he left The Practice. I hope he finds something soon.
