Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
I really loved this show and hope they give it a second chance next season.
I’m from New Zealand and the show was changed from prime time Tuesday nights to late on Saturdays. Nevertheless, we enjoyed it so much we taped every session and watched them later.
What a great show. Well made, suspenseful and interesting. Gripping. The best thing on TV and the only programme I really wanted to watch. Compelling TV. Now it’s ended, we want more. I really don’t understand why this didn’t grab people – though there are plenty of comments that show it is popular., but maybe not popular enough?
I’m happy to see other fans step up. I thought I was the only one interested in seeing more Daybreak and I gave up trying to get it back on a long time ago.
Daybreak is a great show bring it back it had me on my feet every episode i want to see what is going to happen in the end
Day break is definitely one of the best shows I’ve seen, but I guess 3 mil viewers is low compared to 30 mil of american idol…
Well guess what, I’m not one of the 30 mil that watch american idol…
I just found this show was blown away by the story.
I feel like maybe ABC didn’t promote the show enough. I didn’t hear very much of it at the time.
Me and my wife couldn’t get enough.
I would buy the DVD if released for sure.
Day Break was great show with great actors!! Please at least release it on DVD
I just watched the ENTIRE SERIES from beginning to end – and did it in three days. AWESOME SHOW! I’m really sorry I missed it on TV. The writing, acting, direction – all flawless. They really should give the show another chance – a REAL chance by putting it into the schedule at a better time and allow it to remain there to build an audience. I’m dying to know what the deal with Jarrod is?!?! Is he somehow behind the physics involved in the repeating day? ARG! Someone please tell me!
oops… i forgot to leave my city and state. plainfield, IL USA. BRING BACK DAYBREAK!!
i was wondering what happened to this show last year. i immediately got hooked from episode 1 and waited for the next airing one week, but it never came. it even disappeared from abc’s site! but thankfully, last week i just happened to find that it was back on their site and that it had all the episodes of the first season (which i just now finished…it’s 3am!) and i can’t believe that a show of this quality was cancelled so quickly. i’m pretty upset that there won’t be any continuation of this freakin AWESOME show and that is why… Read more »
It was a good show. Sure wish it could get another chance.
I would like to see the rest of Day Break!!
day break was very good!!
Save DayBreak! I was soooo disappointed when it was taken of the air after like the 3rd or 4th episode. I feel that it was only taken off due to the realness of the content. It divulges what I believe to be what is “really goin’s on” w/any and all gov’t entities. I want to be enlightened. Darkness is blindness. The show was awesome!! Bless.
PLEASE BRING BACK DAY BREAK, IT WAS ONE OF THE FEW SHOWS THAT I GOT EXCITED TO WATCH THE NEXT WEEK. REMEMBER THE VIEWERS ARE THE ONES THAT KEEP ABC GOING.
