Operatives Jones and Beneventi won’t be uncovering answers on NBC in the 2021-22 television season. The Peacock network has cancelled the Debris TV series for a second year.
The Debris TV show stars Jonathan Tucker, Riann Steele, Norbert Leo Butz, and Scroobius Pip. The story begins as mysterious wreckage starts falling from the sky. A secretive international agency named Orbital is tasked with figuring out what the wreckage is, where it came from, and most importantly — what it can do. British MI6 operative Finola Jones (Steele) and American CIA agent Bryan Beneventi (Tucker) are partners but they have very different styles. However, they have no choice but to trust each other as they track down the debris scattered across the Western Hemisphere. Each fragment has unpredictable, powerful, and sometimes dangerous effects on the everyday people who find it. They must race against time as shadowy outside forces seek these objects for nefarious purposes.
Airing on Monday nights, the first season of Debris averaged a 0.38 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.79 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. Despite airing out of one of NBC’s highest-rated shows, The Voice, the drama was one of the network’s lowest-rated scripted shows.
The season finale of Debris aired on Monday night and not surprisingly left plotlines unresolved. The show’s series creator has talked about hoping to find a way to continue telling the story if it was cancelled.
Decisions have yet to be made on other NBC shows like Ellen’s Game of Games, Good Girls, Manifest, and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
What do you think? Have you watched the Debris TV show? Do you wish that this sci-fi series had been renewed for a second season?
I looked forward to each episode and assumed Debris would be on for several years. Strange, engrossing, and fascinating. I was hooked after the first episode.
I am shaking with anger. Debris was a very interesting show. I concede there were some glaring deficiencies,. but the overall the concept was engaging. A pox on the executives at NBC
Why do they always cancel the most interesting and intriguing shows while stupid shows like Naked and Afraid get renewed ♀️Wtf
Please let Debris be put on Netflix or something I loved this show
I so am hoping for that, too!
Every good science fiction show that is good for the family is always canceled. No graphic violence or language, just using the imagination to follow the science fiction. It’s a shame.
Good riddance to what I recognized as a train wreck from ep 1. I watched the whole season, hoping for more, but it never came. I could have sworn I was watching a cheap Canadian SyFy show. The leads were miscast, thy mystery of the debris pieces was never really clarified, or even made interesting. The only thing redeeming about it was its intent to be weird. But even then, they tried too hard. And this is coming from a Twin Peaks David Lynch fan. I’m sure the creator of the show had a truly awesome vision of what his… Read more »
I’m kind of doing the same thing. I have 6 still unwatched on my DVR. It was close to being a good show, but no cigar.
Thank goodness. This show was junk
I am so tired of new thought provoking shows being cancelled without giving them a better chance to prove themselves. I sincerely hope someone else will pick this up so it can continue. This was a new take on an alien invasion and my whole family was anxious to see where it would take us. Please reconsider.
I agree, why are the good shows canceled???? Debris has a great story line and makes you use your brain to think about what is happening. Please reconsider and keep Debris on, the show has many fans, please listen to us!!!!!!
Yes by all means. The series and its premise may have been too convoluted. It was touted as a cross between X-Files and Fringe. It definitely was. We need more shows like this to help us to look at life in many directions.
Hopefully Peacock or Netflix would have the insight to continue this series.
Well that figures, alwaya cancel the good shows i an tired of this we are the viewers and from the ratings. You guys suck for canceling this show. So now some stupid game show, comedy, leave it to Beaver show. Thanks for nothing why not syfy or good stuff. SMARTEN up please.
Well that sucks. I hope someone else picks it up. :/
Love Debris! I like shows that keep you guessing and that have twists in them. The actors In Debris are great!
I had a feeling it would be canceled. Every show that’s different, in a good way, gets canceled. Hope loose ends can be wrapped up in a 2-hour movie.
I am quite upset over this cancellation. This is a good show and gives me something to look forward to on Monday. I can’t wait to watch the newest episode.
