Charlie Sheen and CBS’ Two and a Half Men have played havoc with the other network’s schedules for years. The sitcom is one of the top-rated shows on television and sometimes reruns outperform the competition. Now, Sheen is helping ABC for a change.
ABC News has landed an exclusive interview with the troubled actor and will air it on Tuesday night on a special edition of 20/20. The special edition will no doubt get huge ratings.
To make room for the interview, ABC has once again pre-empted Detroit 1-8-7, the network’s lowest-rated scripted series. From a ratings standpoint, just about anything they can put in that timeslot will perform as well or better than Detroit 1-8-7. Last week’s special edition of Primetime garnered a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.14 million viewers. That’s certainly not a great performance but it is 14% better than the previous episode of Detroit 1-8-7.
As frustrating as this may be to fans of the crime drama, ABC isn’t likely to stop pre-empting it. On the positive side, Detroit 1-8-7 remains on next week’s schedule, for now at least. At this point, the show is all but cancelled and the network is essentially burning off the remaining episodes. There are three episodes left in this season and there’s no way that its coming back for season two.
What do you think? Will ABC get around to airing the three remaining episodes of Detroit 1-8-7?
Give this show a chance! If you cancel it now we will be so dissapointed. WE LOVE THIS SHOW!
I think it is a terrific show. I hope they don’t cancel it. They never give good shows a chance.
I agree, this is one of the BEST shows on television now! My husband and I look forward to putting the kids to bed and watching this! The story lines they have going are great. What they do (in less than 60 minutes) is more than some movies, that are 90 minutes or longer with no commercials! I’m so sick of all the Charlie Sheen time. Media is justing making it worse. Everywhere you turn there is something about him. Let’s move on…..
What is wrong with ABC? They have some real losers, Like In TheMiddle and Mr Sunshine, Cougar Town. They leave that garbage on and Cancel Detroit 187 one of the best shows on TV . They should put Detroit 187 in a better time slot like 8 or 9pm.
PS EVERY STATION IS COVERING THIS CHARLIE SHEEN MESS FAIL KEEP 187 ON
EVERY TIME ABC PRE EMPTS 187 I GET MADD HAS HELL I LOVE THIS SHOW LOVE IT THE WHOLE CAST SHINES ABC PLEASE GIVE THIS SHOW A CHANCE
This is a great show. We’ve watched every episode and look forward to watching it on Tuesdays. Please give it another chance.
ABC is crazy to knock Detroit 187 around. This is a well written show and needs to be given a chance to stay on the air. Cmon ABC. Do the right thing and find a time slot that works for this show. It truly is a great gem and you need to find a way to make it work.
Thank you.
This is the only show I watch on ABC. It is appointment television for both me and my mother. I love that this show is set in Detroit. Michael Imperioli is riveting to watch and leads an outstanding cast. This is a smart and well written police show. I urge to consider giving this show a chance to find an audience. Quality television is hard to find and I feel this is a real gem in the ABC family. Please do not give up on this show.
I love that show and hope that it will go into a 2nd season. It is so well written and has a great cast. Other shows have had lower ratings and then shot up as people really learned how good the show is. I hope ABC will not cancel it. There are too many story lines that will be left hanging.
Incidentally, Charlie Sheen sounded like a crazy, self centered lunitic. He didn’t seem one bit like he cared about his kids and his being high on himself was ridiculous. I switched him off !
This is the best show on TV today, it is better than CSI NY or LA, better than Blue Bloods, great cast and great story lines, can’t understand why the ratings aren’t much better. If this show gets cancelled, I’ll start going to the movies again and stop watching TV.
ABC needs to give this show a chance taking it off in February is not a good idea.
The writing is excellent it is one of the better cop shows on tv. ABC can build on the show and promote the show like you did in the beginning of the season. Listen to the people who watch and tape the show. The stories of Detroit are so different from all of the New York, LA and Chicago.
Well ABC/Disney has reached the lowest of lows. To cancel a fantastically written & acted show as Detroit 1-8-7 in prefence to a Tabloid news show or some of the other reality crap they have on the air is ludicous. I am part of the Baby Boomer generation and it is clear to see that the almighty dollar is why this decision is being even considered. One of the reasons some of the younger generations are the way they are, is because of the subliminal messages that they are getting from society today. That is come up with some crazy/stupid… Read more »
I thought it was doing well! I’m shocked. I love this show. What a great cast. I don’t know why people are not watching. Maybe because of the stupid Good Wife? I’m not watching anything new on this station if they cancel this!
