TV show description:
As the series begins, a vapid blonde aspiring model named Deb Dobson (Brooke D’Orsay) is killed in a car crash. As her soul enters the gates of Heaven, she finds herself declared a self-centered “zero” by the gatekeeper, Fred (Ben Feldman). Not liking what she’s heard, she presses return, hoping to get back to Earth. Deb gets her wish but doesn’t end up in her own body. Instead, she finds herself deposited inside recently-deceased Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliott). Jane’s a highly-intelligent, plus-size attorney who was accidentally shot. Superficial Deb is initially horrified by her new form but in time begins to discover the meaning of inner beauty.
Though she has Jane’s form and legal knowledge, Deb doesn’t have Jane’s memories, making for some very uncomfortable situations. Things are made even tougher by the fact that Deb’s boyfriend, Grayson Kent (Jackson Hurst), works at the same law firm. She’d love to pick up their relationship but he’s still grieving for her former self. Hot-shot lawyer Kim Kasswell (Kate Levering) has always looked down on Jane because of her appearance and wants to start a relationship with Grayson now that Deb is “gone.”
Teri Lee (Margaret Cho) is Jane’s office assistant who tries to help her boss overcome her confusion. After sending Deb back to Earth, Fred is demoted to be her guardian angel and works in the firm’s mailroom to keep an eye on her. He ends up falling for aspiring actress/model Stacy Barnett (April Bowlby), Deb’s best friend and the only person to know the truth about Jane.
Episode #78 — It Had to Be You
While Owen and Kim attempt to talk some sense into Jane about her relationship with Ian, Stacy is caught in the middle. Meanwhile, Teri has her own grievances with Ian when she realizes he is her former classmate responsible for ruining her chances at stardom. Owen and Jane find themselves on opposite ends of a case while Kim represents her former temp when he’s fired from his temp agency.
First aired: JUne 22, 2014.
What do you think? Do you still like the Drop Dead Diva TV series? Do you think that it should end?
Please don’t end it, because it’s just getting and want to see what happens with jane and grascon. I love this show, look forward ever yeah to watch it.
I watched this on Netflix and was cut off before the end of the 5th season! I am so bummed….and sorry to hear it was cancelled. Please let us have decent shows with great writters….goofy as this was at times, better than stupid or violent shows!
I loved Drop Dead Diva! It was one show that women could feel better about themselves, not everyone has a perfect body and the character, Jane /Deb dealt with issues with dignity and humor without being too preachy.
I can’t believe the show was cancelled. It certainly is better than so many of the shows on tv right now. I do not like the way the series finale ended. Everything was left up in the air. Too bad. I may rethink lifetime in the future.
Agree Cathy. Found this site as I was trying to find out when the series would continue. Too bad.
That’s it for me…. NO more lifetime…My grand-daughter and I never missed Drop Dead Diva love that show
It was the best show on TV. Fresh and funny with positive body image for women. Great show back!!!!!!
I love Drop Dead Diva. I’m sad to see it go. It’s been one of my favs since the beginning. Maybe there will be enough backlash and the “powers that be” will change their minds.
I love the show, its an awesome show, please continue the series
This has been one of my favorite shows. The finale is fine with me if this had to be the final episode. It does leave the opening for continues segments elsewhere. Good job!
I don’t understand why a fun and entertaining program can’t stay on the air. It will probably be replaced by another stupid reality show that in fact is not reality.
I’m upset the way that they had it end was really just down right stupid.
This is my favorite show…..I can’t believe it’s been cancelled again!! The last episode wasn’t worthy of a season finale. It left us hanging on too many levels. I hope somebody comes to their senses and picks up this show.
I love this show and am so sad that it ended. I have watched since the beginning and would love for it to continue.
I’m really upset that One of my FAVORITE shows was cancelled…. Then the way that they had it end was just stupid…. I wish and hope that they’re able to do something where the show is picked up my another station or maybe they can bring it back once more
One of my favorite shows….not too serious, but clever. Bring it back
Please don’t cancel. There is so much to learn
