East New York was cancelled by CBS earlier this week, but there is still some hope that the series could be saved and renewed for a second season. The show’s studio, Warner Bros Television, had started to informally shop the series to other outlets in recent weeks when renewal talks with CBS weren’t going as well as hoped.
Starring Amanda Warren, Jimmy Smits, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Kevin Rankin, Richard Kind, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Olivia Luccardi, and Lavel Schley, East New York revolves around the officers and detectives of the 74th precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Per Deadline, East New York had been on track for a renewal — until the cancellation of SWAT was rescinded. The two police dramas were essentially competing for the same time slot, so the newer drama ended up being the loser.
With a loyal following of viewers, there has been some backlash following the drama’s cancellation and the studio is looking for a new home. Those efforts are complicated now that the WGA strike is underway.
Mike Flynn, co-creator of the CBS series, told fans of the series to stay tuned in a post on Instagram.

I love this show, even more than Blue Bloods, which I was a fan of but BB has gotten dull. E. NY has the right focus on quality to attract a good audience: 1) No big focus on gore 2) Great focus on the lives of the cops; that brings humanity to their roles 3) Some really great actors, particularly Amanda Warren. Really am hoping another channel picks it up. Very disappointed in CBS. This show is the reason I was going to renew my Paramount Plus service.

This is a smart show with great acting. Someone needs to pick it up.
I have been working and living in East New York since the 1970s. This show should not be cancelled – it’s one of the first efforts to portray life in our part of the world, and it’s well done!
Marvelous diverse cast with plenty of storylines to play out. I can see more meaningful episodes in the future if just given a chance.
Please, please, please renew ENY, this show is a shining light in an otherwise dim landscape of network TV!!!
East New York is a great show. Please keep it. This show is one of the best. The Rookie is so fake I can’t watch it.
East New York is an extremely exciting show with an excellent cast. It needs to be renewed for several more seasons.
Keep East New York for a second, third, fourth…… season. Wonderful cast, compelling stories. We need thoughtful, well acted series that reflect real life in a compassionate, honest way.
Keep East New York – dump Swat.

I can’t believe that you guys canceled the show. It is wanted the best shows that have seen in a very long time. And it’s a shame that you cancel it. Somehow somewhere you need to find a way to bring it back. Or have it on your streaming channel.
