The game is afoot once more. Today, CBS announced they’ve renewed Elementary for a fifth season, which will air during the 2016-2017 season.
A modern update of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic Sherlock Holmes stories, Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller as Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson. The drama also stars Aidan Quinn and Jon Michael Hill.
Currently in its fourth season, Elementary has seen some change this year. Recently, CBS moved the series from its usual Thursday timeslot to Sundays. The move doesn’t seem to have made a noticeable difference in the ratings. So far, this season has dipped by about 20%, with a 1.03 rating in the 18-49 demo and around 5.79 million viewers.
Today, the network announced 2016-17 season renewals of 10 other shows as well — 2 Broke Girls, The Amazing Race, Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary, Mom, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, and Survivor.

One of my VERY favorite shows!! Liked the Thursday night time slot better, but I’d follow it anywhere!! Please don’t cancel it.
My favorite TV show. Miller is excellent although difficult to understand at times. Liu is wonderful and it’s difficult to take your eyes off her. I am very pleased that it has been renewed although it has been relegated to a terrible time slot.
I love this show. It’s smart, funny and actually a surprisingly nice modern take on Holmes. Miller is brilliant!

Love this show! It has the right combination of intriguingly wild cures and the cast are amazingly in tune with each other!
This is one of the best shows on TV but since it has no zombies or car races, I am not surprised that its season five was in jeopardy. I don’t see it lasting after this season, ratings aren’t going to increase on Sundays. Probably Thursdays are a problem for ratings because that is a football night as well. Love this show, its cast and stories!!! I hope it will be around a while.
I continue to enjoy the show, but my friends and I have a hard time understanding what he is saying, which takes away from the impact of the story line.
Jonny does talk fast sometimes(which is his character as his mind works so fast) that it’s easy to miss some of what he’s saying – I tape the dhow and when that happens I rewind that part back and turn up the volume so I can catch it – works pretty well ! 🙂
I *do* watch Elementary and am delighted that it has been renewed for the 2016/2017 season. What at first seemed like a strange portrayal of the classic Sherlockian plot, with an even stranger protagonist, turns out to be very clever, well-written, and very well acted. It leaves me eager for more of this entertaining series with each passing week. All the key actors are outstanding, but I must give special credit to Jonny Lee Miller, whose eccentric, multi-level depiction of Holmes is superb. I ALWAYS watch this show – when it’s bumped by some other event (like some type of sport) it’s infuriating! I try to watch the sponsors and try to buy their products, that’s how devoted I am!!!!
it’s the best show on television why are you asking such a silly question.television today has gone dark and evil. talk about X-rated television and today it’s just anything goes. Elementary has key ingredients with the chemistry between Holmes and Watson and its sophisticated well-written drama. Has comedy as well. Anyway come on this better go at least seven seasons if it doesn’t I will be wondering who pulled the rug out

Please ask Johnny Miller to speak a little louder. Sometimes it’s hard to understand him. That said, the show is excellent the characters are excellent and the acting is excellent.
I have trouble understanding his British accent as well. Now I turn on close-captioned–problem solved!
