It seems Dorothy Gale will return to Kansas. NBC has cancelled the Emerald City TV show. There will be no season two. The fantasy drama starred Adria Arjona, Vincent D’Onofrio, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu, Mido Hamada, Gerran Howell, Jordan Loughran, and Joely Richardson.
As usual, it comes down to the ratings. The first season of Emerald City on NBC averaged a 0.72 rating in the 18-49 demographic and an audience of 3.02 million viewers. When you compare its ratings to those of other NBC TV shows, the cancellation is understandable.
Emerald City Cancellation Confirmed
While we have been anticipating the Emerald City TV show cancellation for a while, Variety confirmed it, last night.
Emerald City‘s yellow brick road to the airwaves was riddled with potholes. Production on The Land of Oz-inspired drama was supposed to begin in 2014. Although the network planned for a 2015 premiere, creative differences derailed the project.
The Peacock Network eventually reversed that decision. In April 2015, they brought on a new showrunner. Still, it seems they didn’t have much faith in Emerald City, since they scheduled it on Friday nights, and held the premiere until January 2017.
What do you think? Were you a fan of the Emerald City TV series? Should NBC have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Let us know, below.
I really liked it! I loved the twists and adult reality that was put into it. Not happy that it was cancelled!
Your kidding! It was great.
What a shock. NBC disappoints yet again, by canceling another amazing show with a cliff hanger ending. I guess I can only hope it will get picked up by someone else. Definitely going to avoid watching anything new on this network.
Seriously the only show I watched on that network!
Bring it back! It’s one of the few shows I watch on NBC!!
That show got better and better as it progressed. Sad news! Bring it back!!
NBC cancelled Season 2, really? Get on with season 2, and stop joking.
They should NOT of canceled Emerald City!!!! This was one show I actually liked…it is extremely hard to find a good magical show since Charmed ended. I never look up if shows will be returning but this show I have actually been searching for information on a season two and of course it was canceled!!! I am very disappointed!!
Wow I was not aware of this series until scannkng Amazon sales today May 8th! Was there no advertising for tgua show???
I hope the show can be renewed. At times it is very dark and other times it is very heart warming. I would like to see where the story goes.
I am very disappointed! I really enjoyed this series, it was well played and engaging.
Hope another network picks this ip
So sad. Seems NBC does this all the time. Boo.
I don’t think they care what the public wants
You can delete this comment If you feel it’s to mean but I’m gonna say it. After Grimm ended I needed emerald city and you hellish people cancel it!! F*** you!! You guys suck!! These shows your canceling are some people’s favorites!! If your gonna cancel it with a cliff hanger you make a movie you don’t just leave people knowing nothing!! I used to watch Grimm and this show in your Chanel but I feel your deleting my favorite shows and others peoples shows for your own amusement!! So f*** you all!!!
I agree with everything you’re saying, like tf why would they do this
NBC you bite! I was really looking forward to a new season. I guess I will go back to FOX and CBS. So disappointed.
Loved this show. Was hoping for the next season especially how they ended the last episode. Bring it back please.
They set it up perfect for an amazing second season!!
I hate shows that leave so many loose ends for the next season without another season guaranteed. When the next season never happens we’re left with an unfinished story.
I loved emerald city!!!!! So disappointed there’s not going to be a season 2.
