The mystery won’t be solved on Emergence. ABC has revealed they’ve cancelled the Tuesday night drama series so there won’t be a second season.
The Emergence TV series follows Jo Evans (Allison Tolman), a newly divorced police chief who ends up taking in a young child named Piper (Alexa Swinton) who is found at the site of a mysterious accident and she has no memory of what happened. Jo’s investigation into the child’s mystery draws her into a conspiracy that is larger than she could have imagined. The cast also includes Alexa Swinton, Owain Yeoman, Ashley Aufderheide, Robert Bailey Jr., Zabryna Guevara, Donald Faison, and Clancy Brown.
The first season of Emergence, which wrapped in January 2020, averaged a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.71 million viewers.
Despite having an enthusiastic fan base, Emergence ended up losing half of its audience over the course of the season and ended up being one of the network’s worst-performing shows.
What do you think? Did you enjoy watching the Emergence TV series? Would you have watched season two on ABC?
please bring emergence back. It’s a great show.
Unbelievable that there will be no second series. Binged watched episides up to no. 10 in one day. Can’t wait for the rest.
It’s the most compelling programme I’ve seen for a long while. How there was a drop in audience viewing no’s, is beyond me.
Gusess I end up watching the usual crappy stuff.
So sad.
Me and my family love the show sorry to hear it was canceled
I really enjoyed the show. It seems that stations always cancel good shows. This one drew you into it and made you wonder what was going to happen next.
Ditto
Here’s an idea ! Why don’t the writers of Emergence tell us how the story ends and then we wouldn’t feel that we’d wasted 10 hours of our lives! So tired of enjoying a programme which will never have a conclusion as the money men pull the plug.
Brill idea but would love more.
I really wanted a season two. If they knew they weren’t continuing i wish they’d wrap it up. We don’t know who’s Piper and who’s Helen. Just tie it up for the viewers. This is why i will continue to buy recording devices. I will NOT watch advertisements if stations screw us over!
Please bring Emergence back for a second season. It was by far one of my favorite shows on an anchor station. I watch more cable television than the normal anchor stations. Emergence grabbed my attention from the get go and kept me coming back for more. I even got a friend hooked on it and we were anxiously awaiting for a new season. Please don’t disappoint us. If ABC doesn’t want to reinstate the show, maybe a cable station might.
HAD HOPED EMERGENCE WOULD BE BACK. WAS DISAPPOINTED IT HAD LOST HALF OF ITS VIEWERS OVER THE SEASON. GUESS THAT SHOWS THE MINDS OF THE 18-49 AGE GROUP THAT DECIDES WHAT WE SHOULD WATCH….PRIME TIME GAME SHOWS AND SCRIPTED “REALITY SHOWS” WOULD BE A NICE PICK UP FOR SCI-FI CHANNEL
I am so disappointed that Emergence has been cancelled. I guess I fit into the small minority of people who loved the show. I was so anticipating it’s return.
Very disappointed that this show was canceled. I was looking forward to the next season.
I’m heartbroken, I loved this show so much! I thought it was exciting and I looked forward to it every week. What a bummer!!
ABC/Disney some time ago choose to make a major continuum shift in what they think that We (those that actually make up the majority of the viewer public 91%, not those whose “cultural” and “ideological” concepts of society as they see it should be 9%) should watch and be influenced by. Simply look at what was the Disney Family Channel, and is now FreeForm. Simply look at the individuals who now own and operate Disney and all there holdings. All that they are doing is simply making room on precious space for a different program that has more of a… Read more »
For the “Disney” channel to take away the ‘adult’ fantasy shows show a lack of appreciation for a portion of their viewing audience, older adults. Most adults don’t like to come home from work and have to continue ‘thinking hard’ while at home trying to relax. Most like a little ‘escapism’, that still allows one to think (softly) and dream. Thinking out of the box results in motivation of progressive thought that benefits society, especially among older adults; whom Disney has not value or trust in other than them taking the kids to Disneyland.
Loved, loved, loved the show!! Was thankful for this type of tv, now I am really sorry to see it go. Please try to get it back!!
Well. I actually worked on the show and had until now held out a slim hope that we would come back. Wonderful cast and crew. I am very sad. No, I am heartbroken, actually. Especially these days when we actually need some good news. This adds to the uncertainty in my own future as everything is at full stop. Networks are notoriously skittish-if it is not an instant ratings star they punt. At least we got to air our entire first season. Glad it had a loyal following. Networks are a dying breed, and I think that may be a… Read more »
You did a great job on this programme and so sad it’s not getting a second season.
It’s silly not to carry on ….great show ..it just needs time to be appreciated….more please please please… english viewer
If people are so into reality shows network executives shows give that genre it’s own channel. Then people who could care less about reality shows don’t have to deal with them at all.
